IIRC the rear is a 2 piece set per side. Handbrakes aren't applied using hydraulics (fluid etc), they are cable operated and use shoes that sit inside a 'drum' incorporated into the rear disc. New cars now have electronic 'parking' brakes.

Well that clears that up. So where do the second cables go? Do both goto the one calliper?

In the set there will be one for the front left, one for front right, two for rear left and two for rear right. Both lines don't connect directly to the caliper..

I haven't found out if its all good yet but I let him know what the exact cause was after speaking to a mechanic friend who spent 5 or so hours finding the same issues on a different soarer. Turns out if the timing belt cover isn't put back on right it will heat up and rub on a cam sensor cable which shorts out/breaks and it will pretty much shut down one side of the v8.

Ah right, thanks for that. I might look into it when another track day comes around, I was hoping to have it all done in one go but then again I might not need them with a better pad and disc set up :)

Just do it, I don't have braided lines but have been told they're one of the best bang for buck mods you can do

Profile update:
Saved myself a bit of dosh this weekend by installing new pads/front rotors and servicing my calipers by myself :)
Only smashed my knuckles once
The pads I replaced on the front had a bit of life in them and had some double shim deal going on, I don't know the brand but they have red backing but no groove down the middle on the pad side, which I thought was odd, they were noisy/dusty too. Anyway, changed them and put in stop techs from jacks-GTB. So far so good :D
The rear pads were Subaru branded and getting on the low side, also wearing really badly. I cleaned all the self adjuster sliding thingys and greased them up with new stuff so the new pads wear evenly.

The discs I installed are dba T2, love how they look and hopefully perform better then standard. Got them for $260ish delivered from pro speed racing.

All in all, very easy and satisfying DIY and can save yourself a fair bit of money. (New pads installed and fluid flush on my impreza cost me $360 last time, excluding the cost of the pads) - I'll post some photos soon

Nice one Zac. DIY sure is the best! Just did my sisters rear brake pads on her Foz in Wollongong last weekend, I hadn't even touched brakes before that haha.
Interested in how you go with the ceramic stop techs, seems to have good reviews and "best bang for your buck" deal from Jacks... I'll be ordering a set in the next month or so. Inspected my brakes and the fronts are down to a few mm left :(

A little tricky, it's weird, I thought the caliper would be bolted to the hub but its actually connected to that bracket thing that hangs around the caliper and the bracket is connected to the wheel hub at the back with decent sized bolts, you have to remove this to get the rotor off. My stock rotors were on pretty tight but there are 2 threaded holes opposite each other on the rotor right near the wheel studs and you screw a bolt in on each side slowly and it makes a pretty loud ting then comes lose enough to remove. Unless it just pulls off lol
