Only have to decide whether I go KiDO's or BC's
What are people's thoughts on these ?

I've changed my mind on the KiDos and BCs since I've been further investigating my options and have now decided to go for cusco zero 2s or tein super streets !

OK FIGHT THIS OUT

everyone knows that the 2.5i Hitatchi ECU cant be open source tuned or ecu maps cant be modified in anyway
which leaves me at a cross road right now

what do i do if the plans i have for this car cant be done due to the fact that my ECU cant be modified
A. Sell the car
B. Spend a wad of cash on rewiring a new ecu
C. Keep the car but instead of going for power upgrades focus my money on looks and interior mods and just have a good cruiser.
D. Fill the blank with other options I cant think of right now

Now i was planning on stroking this motor and pretty much rebuilding this engine from the ground up to support the 10psi raptor supercharging system but if i cant tune the fucker whats the point!

Dilemma A. I love this car I now own it and originally planned on keeping it and spending big on it but i love the colour of the paint Red Libertys are hard to find and very rare. Its 5 years of love and care ive put into this. This car is my 5th car ive owned previous rides were
Nissan Pulsar N14 on my Ls-Ps then brought Ford Fairmont Ghia cant remember what model i smashed a diff in that and pretty much scrapped it and brought a Ford Fairlane EA on gas (worst thing ever) sold that and purchased a VY Holden SS Ute Auto that was an alright car then traded that for this Liberty quite a change in trend there and ive just totally fell in love with this car over years so much so the thought of selling is killing me

Dilemma B. Wont be able to afford to sell it ATM due to we will be purchasing a new car for my wife ( Subaru Tribeca ) very soon. If i sold the car I could only buy a car for what i sell it for so i cant really upgrade to a 08 or 09 on that budget

Dilemma C. with the fact that ive said i cant afford it i can afford it but i have a wife who wont let me right now. so i dont want to spend money on this car if i cant get the end result im after i wouldnt mind having a nice handling no power cruiser but it cant beat a 200kw atw supercharged motor

Decisions Decisions Decisions i was planning to get coilovers real soon but im putting them on hold til i can determine if i want to keep this car. And right now the decision hinges on whether i can swap out this ecu or not.
The problem is that i want to do it eventually but it probably wont happen for 2 years or so, so i feel really sorry for wasting a mechanics time now but i really like forward planning for things like this most people dont understand that and as soon as they ask when do u want to do this and u say not sure u see they try wrap it up asap.

Sorry for ranting someone give me some viable options.....

Also how much could i sell my car for ?

This is the only option.

You are wanting power but you think you might be able to convince yourself that you can mod looks and be happy with it. Won't happen.

I remember no matter how much Devour modded his 2.5 NA he would always tell me he wished he had a turbo.

Don't bother dropping cash in to a car you will not ultimately be satisfied with.

If you REALLY want to keep the car as a project car, then the only realistic option is an aftermarket ECU - this used to be the norm for many years and it doesn't involve loads of rewiring - in fact it just plugs in, and it's not hugely expensive either. The only extra wiring you would do would be to connect something to one of the aftermarket ECU's I/O connections, such as a temperature probe, or an intercooler spray pump.

For any mods, you can easily get away with a piggyback-style ECU. This just intercepts and modifies signals relevant to the engine while elements such as air-conditioning handling and cold-start is left to the factory ECU (why reinvent the wheel?).

Haltech for a long time have had a popular piggyback-ECU, but there are plenty of others as well.

Cheers hyrax I would like to keep this car as I've, said I've become attached to it for some reason I'm going to explore an aftermarket ecu further and decide from there in the mean time I'll be putting any mods on hold til I kno all my options are exhausted regarding this ecu problem.

I'm after more power but not craving it. Right now I'm happy with just doing handling mods but as I say looking to the future I'd like to increase the power in this car so I'm looking at this ecu problem now !

I only got one reply from the 3 shops I emailed last week
The one that replied was Tunehouse Racing
I've been exchanging emails for a few days then I called him and spoke on the phone
I'm pretty happy with what he explained to me
With the mods that I have planned he advised I go full aftermarket replacement
He quoted me a price of $4500 incl wiring a new harness
This includes a full custom dyno tune after install of the new ecu
I'm happy with this price and I've decided to go for it.
Problem being I need to take 2 days off work which I can't do til next year since I've used all my holidays up this year.
I'm putting my coilovers on hold now and I'm going to do this ecu swap first.
In the mean time I'm probably not gonna be doing much to this car
I'll keep it's updated !!!
