$4500?!?!?

Mate, tbh IMO you'd be better off buying a new car. Sure a new ECU will make it more drive able and make it feel better, but for $4500 on top of your car, you could have a GT? Personally I don't think the gains made in a tune/ECU are worth $4500.

I went through the stage of this and even though the quotes I got were closed to $2,000 or under for the exact same work, I refused to spend that for such a small power increase.

On the other hand, if he treats it as a project car...
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

Another suggestion given you seem set on a supercharged liberty. Sell yours and buy a 2.5i with a tuneable ECU. You'd still be ahead financially. $4.5k to upgrade the ECU before any power mods is ridiculous IMO.

Yeah valid point Frank and I have looked into that option but I'd have to find a red one coz I don't want a black, silver, white, gun metal grey colored lib and Red post faced libs are very hard to find if any at all.

And yes 4.5k for 10% power increase is ridiculous but 4.5k is worse case if they have to wire a new harness in.

I've had this car 5 years and havent had any mechanical issues so there's really no reason IMO to sell it just coz of the ecu.

Everyone thinks I'm just dismissing your advice but this isn't the case Ive investigated each and every option and it still hasn't changed my thoughts....

I realise my money would get better bang for buck going turbo but it's not what I'm after...

I'm after a unique ride that's different from the norm

And different from the norm is always gonna cost extra

This build is gonna cost a lot of money I know this...there is no reason to keep reminding me anymore....

Current news I will soon be purchasing a cusco rear swaybar with AVO hd mounts.
I was gonna stick with the cheaper cusco brackets but after reading thru pages on here of people raving about the AVOs I've decided to go with them. They do look like they will give extra support and since I'm looking to track this car soon it's probably worth the extra $50 bucks will keep u all posted!

Wow I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted in my thread. I have purchased my cusco rear sway bar and avo hd mounts but still haven't installed them yet :( I have however got some little maintenance things done and little jobs I've done lately like I brought a new actuator for my right rear door and installed that the other day. I was surprised it only took me an hour to do now the lock works perfect :) I also installed the boot cargo nets that only took me half hour to install now it makes the boot look a lot neater :). Stuff I will be purchasing soon is a 1mt LED strip for the boot from Leo.
ATM I'm still saving for coilovers and brake upgrade they are my next big ticket items !!

So a dissapointing thing happened last week my engine started knocking coz it run low on oil my car had been serviced 7 months ago and i had only travelled 3700kms in that time yet somehow my engine burned through 2.5L of oil. Thats how much oil i put back in to get it to read full on the dipstick
Anyways right now a second hand motor is being installed i hope to get the car back on friday the new engine has 124k on the clock approx
When the install is being done they are also replacing the water pump and putting a new timing belt kit on it
i Must say its annoying this happened but i can only blame myself for not checking my oil levels more frequently it just totally kills my plans for coilovers right now :(
they are gonna have to wait a while longer now....

Or maybe they didnt put enough in at your last service.....2.5L seems crazy for only 3700 kms

I hope thats not the case J but there is no way to prove anyones fault but my own
oh well we learn from these things
indestructible cars are not the case here! anyways the car is running fine since i got it back and im checking the oil at the start of each month.
Each month ive had to put about a litre of oil in so eevn though its a different motor its still burning oil the saame as before i would think!
i still cant spot oil leaks so it must just be burning it up !
