But I'm interested in the causes. Ain had lots of corrosion in the turbo coolant tube... Hmmm why?

Who knows....I have been pretty slack with coolant changes  And my car has been through one or two tuners who caused some frequent boost spikes  Boost spike = increased cylinder pressure = possible lifting head. Do that enough times, and who knows what will happen! Another reason why a good tune needs to take at least a few hours to complete. But that's a turbo problem, sorry jake.

Here's an interesting fact about Subarus:

"On an in-line engine or v engine design, when the vehicle is turned off the fluids such as coolant and oil will drain down to below the head gasket line. On a Subaru with a horizontally opposed engine when you turn the vehicle off the fluids such as the oil and coolant will remain in contact with the head gaskets. If the fluids are not in very good condition, such as outlined above, they will eat away at the head gaskets."

http://allwheeldriveauto.com/subaru-hea ... explained/

Ignore the whole "Only left side of engine is grounded", that doesn't apply to our models. Quite a lot more grounding on ours.

And more relevantly - http://allwheeldriveauto.com/subaru-hea ... d-part-ii/

Have you not learnt anything yet... Boost is inlet manifold restriction against inlet port flow.

Also... coolant draining down below the headgasket on an inline or V engine
Bugger, my V6's coolant header tank above my heads is a waste of money!
Nissan RB engines are just wasting their coolant bleed point being above the head, they should put it below the HG!

You're probably right. Boost has nothing to do with torque. Torque has nothing to do with cylinder pressure. The pistons move on their own. Hmmmm....

But that aside, are you saying boost spikes don't create issues for the block? :? I didn't even mention increased chances of detonation.

And are you implying that you've never had issues with your tunes, because I didn't define 'boost' properly? :?

Personally I think your customers would appreciate it if you paid more attention to your tuning, instead of forum posts. I haven't yet seen a single good tuner have to defend themselves on a forum like you do, mostly because they're attentive enough not to cause issues in the first place. And if there is an issue, they're too busy fixing them to be laughing at noobs online.

Why should some, if not most, of your paying customers take it as the norm to wait a day, or two or even weeks for a reply or a revision?

It's also interesting to see knowledgeable people like yourself, flaunting your superiority over other members, by taking an outdated quote out of context. I hope you feel better now. :alcoholic:

timing is more an issue around peak torque which lifts heads as the cylinder pressures rise more than a few psi increase in boost.

as boost increases you still end up with more pressure in the combustion chamber it might not be the same pressure as measured somewhere else in the intake, the restriction doenst change in the intake its constant unless you have modified it or changed intake valve/cam timing or close the throttle, so a boost spike is still causing more pressure in the combustion chamber but it might not be linear

I read a service book for 06 as I haven't got mine on me and it states to change coolant every 24months or 50k and then 48months or 100k, now most mechanics including myself would do it at the km not the timef (not dealership ones who want everything done by the book or want money!). the biggest issue is not having the right amounts coolant, if you're worried flush the old stuff out (it can get residue left over flush twice) and put new stuff in.

Hey mate, just thought I'd say g'day and shout out my appreciation for your car.
I was the guy in the silver spec B shamelessly checking out your car on the Toorak Road exit of the Monash today.
Looks the goods mate, especially love the concave on your rims. What rims are they?
