Yep, I think you're right. Guess I'm contemplating getting one with a blue background and white text but white on black seems like the safer bet.

You can get silver on black as well. That’d look nice on blue.

Its around $1500 labor and $750ish for parts at Little Sam's as quoted by John.

You are welcome to source (from e.g. Kris @ Rising Sun, Adam @ Tuspeed, Aleck at Gotitrex, Ashley at Makin and Luby, Celtic Motorsports, etc, etc...) your own gaskets, timing kit and water pump etc, prior and bring it all in to be fitted.

Amazing... Do you know if that includes reconditioning heads?
I already have the Gasket Kit sourced from US. I believe it has all the required bits.
Will have to look at timing kit and water pump prices.

Feel free to hit me with links

You would vouch for their Work Ben?

Yeah they've been in business for ages, John has experience with HG for H6.
He said head machining is a coupla hundred tops: *if required*...
He uses either Neilzeds (ex Repco) or the guy that started Yellaterra heads for the machining.

Alrighty, Cos I can get it done at Gf's dad's work, but then requires me to pick them up from there with no car and drop back again a day or two later...for a couple of hundred it's probably worth them doing it.

Excellent.

This is why I'm considering a DIY stealth circle earth kit.
I was discussing Ain's mystery issue, and why he had corrosion around the inside of the turbo inlet tube.
I'll start a discussion thread on it soon enough :)

Is your issue confirmed 100% HG ?

Oook then.... *backs away slowly*

I wonder if the battery creates enough of a current to charge the radiator? Just going to throw this out there - is it even possible to create a concentrated charge in one area? Electricity has a tendency to spread out along the low resistance path which would eventually lead down the many grounding wires in our engine bays to the chassis... how much of a charge is the coolant really going to receive?

I'm just sayin... I'm not the one with the mystery out of the blue HG issues.
But I'm interested in the causes. Ain had lots of corrosion in the turbo coolant tube... Hmmm why?
Why do alloy rads corrode if not grounded? Etc. etc.

Check your earths. Reinforce them ftw. :)

I'm sure I can find another tinfoil hat wearer to confirm my hunch ;)

Hehe. I reinforced my grounding over 14 months ago, all connections cleaned up, sanded, re torqued and sealed, wires checked, battery terminal upgraded and grounding neg cable up sized... was looking for the cause of logging dropping out. Made no difference.

Our engine bay is very well grounded compared to older models and I'd rate the condition of the system around 95% (before I cleaned it) even on the 6 year old car. Only the engine ground under the air intake box had some corrosion on it, still passed current perfectly though (it's a nice mesh cable, can't really ask for a better ground).

Finally I've found if anything is able to muck with your electrics, it's spark plugs. Once replaced, issue was gone. Not exactly old plugs at the time too, around 40,000k and in fairly decent 80% condition. Not even sure what happened there.

The more regular change of coolant seems like a good idea, either way. It's really not that expensive for a yearly 'cleanse'. :D
