No worries, will do. I don't do a huge amount of k's so you could be waiting a while :P

Small update:

All 4 guards rolled, not very happy with the job. Can't turn back time now. ANYWAY

Upon taking off the front wheels (very carefully) I ruined a 3rd wheel stud. Didn't snap - the thread is just so damn soft it just turned to mush.

The stud was BRAND NEW installed less than 48hrs ago. So far i'm up to 3 new wheel studs thanks to sh!t supplied wheel nuts.. New ones coming tomorrow.

Oh and one tyre isn't holding air so it's at the shop at the moment getting looked at.

Total spend so far getting these wheels fitted: $1,956.

Yay for cars.

can you pm me who rolled your guards so I know NOT to use them in future if I choose to change wheels?

its one thing that gets really annoying in the NT is finding good workmanship, or actually people that give a shit

Yeah well the problem starts with finding people that actually do it, then you have to find someone who turns up, then find someone who actually knows how to do it, then find someone tho gives a shit. Gotta love Darwin.

The guy seemed to try and take his time a bit, and I have never done it myself so can't comment on his technique but lets just say he may as well not have used a heat gun.

Whats been the problem with the supplied nuts?
Just average threads? Surprised the studs aren't tougher than the nuts. Stupid car designers- it should be that way around!

The studs are tougher than the nuts.. It's just that the nut turned to crap and left a chunk of metal in the thread of the new stud (Which is still in perfect condition apart from that)

It seems they are just far too soft. I have takem my wheels off at least 100 times before and tightened them up the same way every time, for years. No issues. Nek minnit done 3 wheel studs in like 4 days of having the cheap nuts on.

next time your getting wheels or tyres fitted up or anything of the such let us know, I work in beaurepaires in Katherine and know a few of the boys in Darwin, are they new wheels and tyres that you got? if its all new the only thing I can think that could cause leaking is the wheel weights on the back side of the rim

yeah NT is quite difficult to get any decent work done to your car, ive had nothing but bad experiences when it has come to my car and being in the NT, so now I do everything I possibly can myself, I understand rolling guards is one of those things you need to have experience with but yeah, learn for the future I suppose

Ah cool good to know. I got the wheels/tyres elsewhere and paid Bridgestone $50 per wheel to have the tyres fitted

Yup I do absolutely everything myself, only time I outsource is when I simply don't have the facilities (ie hydraulic press) in which case I still remove the part myself to have the bush/whatever pressed out to make it easier.

I even fitted my new wheels myself because I don't trust the *ahem* less than capable looking tyre fitters to do it for me...

yeah a scratched rim will never be the same, I don't even let the boys I work with touch my gear, even the manager leaves me to it (he knows what im like haha)

yeah I know what its like having to hand your car over to someone only to be gutted, not fun

I didn't even bother to be honest. Put the takuma's back on the shelf and stock wheels back on. Just over it for the minute haha =\

Will have another look tomorrow after work.

All sounds a bit sh*t Zach, sorry to hear.

Might be a little late now, but my McGard nuts are pretty good. They have survived many wheel removals and still look as good as new, not cheap though

I tried (breifly) to find some brand name nuts to suit but due to their design that wasn't possible.. Plus it is kinda urgent so can't wait for overseas shipping etc.

Live n learn :)

given i have 5 i might do ask mark said..gloss black enamel paint or something along those lines over the takuma wording...as well as the bloody centre caps haha.

I did end up painting the raised lettering on the wheels.. Had a go at the centre caps but the paint was being really weird so scrapped that idea for another day..

Here are some more pics for your viewing pleasure.. Lowered it a further 20mm front and back and took out a majority of the camber (running 1 degree front and back now)

Anyway.. Enjoy!

My apologies for the fingering of the photos.. I avoided the ones that I seemingly ruined but they were too good to throw out! Yeah I'm lazy....
