Ecutek tune

Had my tune done...

Not the massive gains expected on paper, but a massive difference on the road.

Gained about 20kW at top end and 25 in the midrange, over what it was already producing with the custom exhaust.

We played around with the SI-drive settings for a while, S mode has very progressive (spongy) throttle response, good for traffic jams or when a chick needs to drive it (ie. when I'm on the piss), S# now is super sensitive. Don't give a shit about I mode!

Exactly my experience, just makes the car sooo much better to drive. I haven't even had the car in Intelligent mode since the tune was done 3 weeks ago.

What was the power output of the tune?

Makes a massive difference the extra few KW's

The figure was about 156kW ATW. I thought it seemed a little low compared to the outputs that other people have been quoting, however dynos can read differently, I guess?

The car does pull a lot more strongly, esp in higher gears.

The other thing to note is the way they tune for boost. They've tried to achieve more boost in the midrange, as the stock turbo runs out of puff at higher rpm. It can't safely maintain max boost above 5000rpm or so, which obviously limits max power. Max power is at about 4700rpm. I think a higher max power could have been acheived by mapping the boost differently, but it would have been at the expense of midrange boost/power/torque and the car would probably been less quick.

In saying that, the car revs a lot more freely to redline now. The extra midrange power has made the biggest difference to performance. Torque is now at around 544Nm (3400rpm), up from 462 with the exhaust only (bearing in mind the exhaust on its own made a big difference from std)

Before the tune, over the entire rev range, the av. power and torque was 118kW and 426Nm. After, 135kW and 491Nm. In terms of driveability and performance, these are the most relevant figures.

sorry, but i don't think your making over 500nm of torque..

Nm on dyno's relates to tractive effort.

Torque figures quoted are handy for a before/after comparison.

Torque readings on a dyno are multipled through the gear ratio, diff and also the diameter of your wheels. I had the same issue when I had my old car dyno'd. I got over 900Nm of torque.
