TMIC will help with heat soak more than anything, not much to be gained from it.
One tuner has said it's worth roughly 7kw ATW, so not much.

oh ok, thanks. i understand the flow of the standard ones is pretty average but i dont know if its worth forking out for. Are the standard ones crap cos of the size or the way the air flows into them? as in misses the front half?

Sagged? They come a tad bowed out of the box. Mine had a bow through the middle...... not anymore.

Its PU, a simple going over the problem areas with a hairdryer heating it up and then holding it straight as it cools will fix that.

Make sure you have it properly secured at all mounting points also.

yeah i did... there was 7 clip spots and i used all of them and the day i put it on after using your hairdryer tip it was excellent.

But as the distance from the centre one to the next one is large the little tab that holds the centre one bent itself so much on the freeway it actually cracked off. i think its actually too flexible and needs to be tougher, ive seen pics of cracked ones, and i cant imagine this cracking, but instead stretching and tearing. ive now got 3 extra cable ties helping but i think its now too bent and the gap it has left in the centre... bout 2cm is just ugly.actually considering taking it off, saving up and buying a genuine one, or will i have the same issue? im convinced it needs to be much more rigid.

Mine is perfect after many freeway drives and hasnt budged.

I did however add about 5 screws and panel clips in key areas. I'll get some pics of them tomorrow.

A lot of people fail to look at things and make them better instead just putting it on as supplied and thinking all will be fine.

This is not aimed at you Stew, its just something I see a lot of.

A screw and panel clip either side of the centre mount will have your problem sorted. This is actually how the genuine ones are secured.

Wait for pics. :D

Heres how to attach it. I used 1/4" washers, 10G x 20 washer head screws and 10G panel clips/speed nuts. All this is readily available at Bursons, Repco, AutoBarn, Supercheap.

You will only need 4 of each. Drill a pilot hole through the lip and bar with them pressed together. Push the speed nut over the front bar edge flat side down. Screw through the lip and the bar into the speed nut. Done.

mine has 40 self tappers in it.....its now part of the front bar!
I had to get it held right with the screws before running a bead of black marine grade sikkaflex between lip and the front bar.
Running the bead is tricky as!

Mine was difficult to get on as it had been baked after each of the 3 coats of enamel and was a little out of shape.
Came up good though and is a little quieter in car since i ran the bead of sealant.

Good luck

J

tried your speed clips mark. theyre perfect, highly recommended.

however, after going to a supercheap, and autobarn and a repco... only repco had the ones you suggested in stock. and they only had a three pack. so i have three of those on it + 4 extra self tappers. sits perfect now though, and i cant imagine it budging.

i did have to re-heat/bend it a fair bit though after it had bent by my freeway fail. took 25 minutes with a hairdryer lol.
