I thought since my build is starting to pick up the pace I should make a thread about it! :)

Since my love of import tuners, the beach and heavy metal music and the need for space to carry guitars and amps all arrived at the one decision to buy the coolest tuner wagon I could possibly find, I have now embarked on yet another modding journey! So here are the specs!

2007 Liberty tuned by STi wagon
Colour: Black (can't get any more heavy metal than black!)
Trans: Tiptronic Auto (much prefer the auto since I have a long drive in traffic to work every day)
Mods when purchased: The front rotors had been replaced with slotted ones and lock nuts all round (why wasnt this stock!? )

Mods so far....

Resonator removed
HKS air filter added
GFB blow off valve (set to 50/50)
Ultrex 3" to 2.5" cat back exhaust
Ultrex 4" mufflers
Phat dump pipe
(ASG Tuned)

Next stage...
PSR Inlet pipe
Kobe TMIC
deatschwerks 65c Fuel pump
(KiDo Tuned)

Still in a box...
TD05 18g Turbo
Grimspeed 3 port solenoid

The exterior of the car wasn't fantastic when I got it so a lot of time has to been spent on restoration.

STi lip cracked in half (has been plastic welded and now completely repaired)..... and broken again thanks to a rabbit!
Bumpers have been repaired and repainted
Black valenti tail lights
ultrex black mesh grille
Defi boost gauge in zerosports pod

4 out of 5 STi rims gutter rashed  still on the to do list
countless small car park dents in doors :angry2: still on the to do list

*Possible Idea* Murder the whole exterior! Black on black everything except for STi badges that are pink/red (Thoughts anyone?)
Photos will be available tonight.

The advice I'm getting so far here has helped so much and I hope that I can contribute by helping others in this forum as time goes on! I appreciate your suggestions and criticism as its all food for thought to me!

Cheers!
Jacob Kenny

Looks like you and I will have exactly the same stage one mods at the exact same time! I'm booked at ASG for 18th!

Small update on current progress...

Phat dump was fitted as the final part of the exhaust to be done, car threw a CEL the moment I turned the key when I picked it up not to mention after a few mins of driving I had a burning rubber smell and some smoke from the engine bay! :angry2:
CEL cleared itself after about 3 or 4 starts and hasn't re appeared since. The culprit you may ask? spray on gasket sealant! excess was burning off and in turn it freaked out the O2 sensor thus causing the CEL.

Noise levels have most definitely gone up since the DP was installed and the exaust note is a little raspier at the top end, this might be due to new pipe though so I'm sure it will calm down a bit. Car is MUCH more responsive and a lot nicer to drive now that the whole exhaust is opened up.

Next is the tune on the 21st so I'm looking forward to the results after that!

Also preparing to have the damaged paint on the bumpers sorted out this month, hoping to find a nice mesh grille before then to get painted with the bumpers 8)

The results are in!
217.1HP atw with a fat torque curve peaking at 321.1Nm
Exhaust quietened down substantially and over all drive is amazing. Backfire has reduced to basically nothing other than the odd crackle.
Sean said it had a bad knock initially but now its all good. 8)

Thanks heaps! My ultimate goal is 200kw atw but I had no idea how much I would be getting from just the few mods I had done so I went ahead with the tune to see how far I could get. Ill get the rest of the cosmetic stuff sorted now and start thinking about what I need next to make that power.

You'll need a turbo upgrade for sure. Thats the same figure Im chasing. Phat said its the equivalent of about 230-240kw atw in a manual.

Good work on the setup so far, looking forward to checking out your beast on the cruise. I wonder what caused the difference in torque between your tune and mine as we have similar mods? Maybe you accidently removed one of your STi badges??? :p

yeah i wondered that myself, I got slightly more power but less torque. it was a hot day yesterday I wonder if that had much to do with the result?
Yeah I think a new turbo and intercooler are a must but I really dont want to over do it and risk drastically shortening the life of my engine, hence the thought of only upgrading to a VF52 but I wonder if that will be enough to make that number.

Hmm yes indeedy, my thoughts exactly. Isnt it reasonably the same when measured on the dyno? Still a direct drive at that stage isnt it? We had this argument on AMC/WA (australian magna club) and when the torque converter locks your in direct drive and there shouldnt be any difference auto or manual as far as a dyno is concerned.
