Hey, the 2871 is the disco patato thing is it not? Would work very well on a ej20! But something you need to consider is the amount of fab work that is going to be involved. You could go for a p20 vf34 and get nearly the same results, with the added ease of having off the shelf headers and up pipes and shite to suit.
Should all work very nicely with the auto, and feel pretty damn strong on the street.

Oh, and is the avo400 thing just a rebranded and more expensive 2871??

edit: re read your post, 2860 is the spud. Been a long time since I played silly buggers with cars, but just getting back into now.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

Yeah 2871 is the next size up.

I did consider the vf34 but the 2871 will outflow it anyway of the week. Plus its not too complicated a job to mount the gt. Plus I'm getting the turbs at a reasonable price, and suited to my specs, so it was a no brainer to be honest.

Hopefully it should be ok with the auto and daily driving.

Will keep you guys posted on progress.

Mick

sorry i should have clarified that it didnt actually "arrive" - but rather was delivered to a certain someone for fitment- it was an unused older style hybrid one that i had sitting around for a few years - initially was for my drag car but ended up going barrell cooler for that setup

piping kit will be custom dan so unfortunately cant help out with a bolt on kit (per your other thread).

on another note - still waiting for your advice on ap calipers :D

What makes you believe the oem ones will flow better? To be honest I doubt that would be the case unless you know something about the kando ones ??

In terms of upgrade, bbk twin scroll though Troy (prospeed racing on here) or gtpumps twin scroll will replace vf36.

On a side note what did your ap calipers and disc setup set u back?

When i was researching what headers and uppipe combo to use with my vf36, everyone recommended the stock ones as they are designed very well. The only ones that im aware of that are an actual improvement over the OEM ones are the Tomei/GT spec ones they have been proven to be better and results are available on their website. How much are the Kando ones setting you back? If i was to buy mine again, i would go for Tomei ones without a doubt. IF there is actual proven gains from the kando ones over the stock ones and they are cheaper i would go for them if not, stick with stock or go Tomei :)

AP calipers/discs cost me appox 2200 aud with Ferrodo pads and HEL lines all round

Must research these gtpumps/bbk turbos and see what would be a good upgrade for the vf36, great thing about the vf36 is the quick spool so a turbo that spools like that with more top end power would be perfect!

Thanks dan - yeah the kando ones are 500 aud delivered so not too bad - but looks like ill be sticking to the oem ones for now with some modifications thanks to someone's influence !!

thats great for the ap setup - is that all around or just front calipers \ rotors?

can you poiint us in the right direction for these?

cheers
Mick

Bit of an update

Car was completed ready for tuning.

Ecu decided to shit itself just before the tune. So now it's a waiting game to hopefully recover the ecu otherwise need to source another one.

Following have been installed:

Gt2871r with 3" vband outlet
Custom up pipe
38mm tial gate
Front mount with alloy piping
Custom 3" intake with blitz filter and cai
ID1000cc injectors on billet fuel rails
Braided fuel lines with speedflow fittings
Sard fpr
Hks evc6 electronic boost controller
Catch can

Now hoping ecu can be fixed and tuned today otherwise won't be back for a couple more weeks

The following have been purchased but not yet installed:

Jspeed lca bushes
Tein stechs
Whiteline rear swaybar

No luck with ecu.

Sending to get unbricked tomorrow morning.

Will be back hopefully by mid next week to allow it to be tuned.

Also thinking of a manual conversion and 2.5 block with forgies so watch this space
