I hope I will get some economy back after the tune but I probably wont notice for at least the first few weeks

It does make it more prominent but in my experience not too much. Before I had any mods I was averaging around 11L/100km when I wasn't giving the car juice...after my mods (dump pipe, pod filter, tmic, boost controller) I was averaging around 13 but mainly because every chance I got I was giving it a bit extra ;) When I'm not having fun it's around 11.2-11.4 which isn't too much of a difference.

Obviously a tune will make it a lot better than that though

Also, has anyone played with a different form of Cold Air Intake apart from replacing the panel filter.

What would need to be modified?
What are the costs associated?
And what are the expected power gains if any, in comparison to just running an upgraded Panel Filter.

Thanks in advance!

Yes like I said I have a pod filter. Depending on which one you get it's straight bolt on in place of your current intake set-up. However, you need to ensure you have an airbox either purchased with it or custom made as it is illegal to drive with it uncovered.

Power gains = <1kw.

True, so may as well just leave as is.

Anything else that you would recommend getting fitted before the tune just to get the numbers up a bit?

Hey James! Cars comming along nicely :) like the red/black

I see you are going to get your exhaust put on before the tune at ASG? Ive got mine booked in on Thursday there to fit my exhaust/dump and a retune but they wanted $250 to fit both the dump and exhaust so was wondering if I could get it done somewhere else cheaper before i take it in?

Haha seems like all the Perth boys are kitting out before the big cruise cant wait to see everyones cars!

BTW you take some wikid snaps will have to go on a photo cruise sometime.

See ya soon

Yeah, I actually have a mechanic down at my work so I was just going to pay him in beer to do it for me on his weekend though, unfortunately the reason my tunes booked so far away is because that was the only time he could fit me in to get the exhaust done, otherwise I'd say jump on board! haha. On that note can you believe they tried to charge me $110 to fit my Panel Filter? haha I here very good thing about there tuning though so no complaints!

I know hey I have been watching everyones threads and stuffs looking very good!

Yeah man hit me up for a drive whenever, love a good coast cruise (did one with BoxerGT the other day) but unfortunately the time that we chose it was bit busy from city beach to hillarys haha. I got some new camera gear coming this week so I'll be keen as mustard to test it out on the cruise :)

See ya soon

If the exhaust is a straight bolt on job it isn't that hard to do it yourself if you want to and have some stands or ramps or both or some other way to get under the car.

A few sockets and spanners and wd40 should be all you need.
You'd probably want a helper though to make it easier to fit the dump.

+1 for that, my mechanic said he would breeze through it, maybe try source elsewhere to get it installed?

Yer they wanted $200 to fit some silicon piping!...thats rediculous about the air filter. Ive also heard they are good tuners but pretty rude and uninterested. Dont understand how people like that expect to keep in buisness.

If the bloke at Maximum Motorsport hadnt recently died I would have gone there for the tune but I think alot of his knowledge with Ecutek went with him sadly. Might see how much STechnic want as they were pretty friendly and good service for my tune and reasonably priced. Its mainly the dump pipe I want fitted, i could do the rest myself but if I could get it done cheap i wouldnt mind paying.

What hours do you work james as I have a lot of free time in week days as I work FIFO.

Try Evolution R, they have some new pipes in stock at the moment, so I'm sure if you went there too get both fitted he would do ou a good deal.
