Mick they are far from weak ...

All cars have their factory faults

My opinion

Walk all over what? 0-100 S3 wins, around a track, S3 still wins, interior, S3 is much more refined albeit simple, and options/features leave the Liberty for dead.

Different price range, different market.

Moving on...

I agree 100%. Still miss it so much :(

Although there's an APR tune I can get for the S3 that puts the 0-100 time under 4 seconds

Will do. Was just something I was reading up on. If I was going to get someone to actually tune it, it would be someone that I know :)

APR is not worth the effort.

You have to commit to buy all the supporting mods from APR which isn’t cheap ($1200 for an intake $3000+ for TBE, then $2000 for flash……

Plenty of other tuning options out there
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

Will be interesting to see what you think of the S3 Rome, I've been looking closely at them lately.
Unfortunately I will have to wait until the new model comes down a bit in used car prices. The 8P (06-12) didn't change much since 06 and really is an outdated car.

If the 8V is still as good as it looks today in about 2 years It may be my car of choice.

Agreed. Shop around. The packages are old and have no updating despite software developments.

FYI: My wifes new toy is doing consistent 3.2's on E85 since it does mid 4's from factory with torque/boost limited 1st/2nd gears on 98 fuel. Will be pissed off if she gets a 10 second pass with just a dump pipe, E85 and tune :(

APR is highly recommended worldwide, but sadly in Australia the national dealer is known to be a complete arse which can also lead to issues with customer service if you have a problem. And those prices are ridiculous!

My golf R is Driver Motorsport tuned - lead calibrator left APR and started his own company.
GIAC, Revo, E-tuners are also highly recommended in Aus, and have a far better track record.

My R does consistent 0-105 in 3.9 with a 2+ tune, its great!
You’ll love the S3, especially with DSG, its epic!
stage 3 turbo kit for a 2.0t engine with stock internals will give you a 10 second car, i wonder how long it’ll take you?
