Nico's 3RB wagon...

Hey all,

Seeing that I've finally gotten around to doing some mods that I've been thinking about for a long time now, I thought I might create a thread to show them off

Some of you may remember me as the guy who had a 2 month battle with Subaru Aust. mid last year after my big end bearing went (3 months out of warranty). To recap, I ended up getting a new short block & reco'd heads courtesy of SA & chipped in $1800 myself toward the labour. I'd always been a Subaru fan, but this experience made me seriously considered pissing the car off. In the end I decised to keep it & in hindsight I've very glad I did as I really love this car & with less than 10 000k's on the new engine it must be one of the best 3RB's (mechanically) going round (though i bet that will spur some debate) :)

So I'd always had in mind a few subtle mods, but felt that the 3RB is a real drivers car out of the box, so didn't want to jepardise the clean, crisp factory look & feel. I therefore wanted to keep any moldification OEM (Subaru / STi).

Year: MY07
Model: 3.0R Spec B 6mt
Colour: Satin pearl white (I think that's what it's called)

Modifications:
MY08 STi grille (aka JDM grille) - c/o Local Subaru parts department
WRX Club Spec 9 wheels (aka JDM Spec B wheels)- Thanks Mark (aka cruisn). Some might consider these wheels a step back as they were only released on the MY06 (or 07?) WRX CS9 in Australia, but I think they're sexy & look great on Libs.
STi Quad mufflers - Ebay
Fluffy dice

The mods are very minor compared to some other members cars, but I'm pretty hapy with how the car's looking at this stage & might even go as far to say that this is how Subaru should have sold them new :) Only future mods I'm considering at this stage is an STi front lip. I did consider STi pinks, but the better half things "the ride's very bumpy" already - gotta love those Bilsteins :D

Look forward to catching up with some other Sydney members soon!

Let me know what ya think...

Nice nico. I agree with your appraisal that it is how Subaru Aus should have released it. I really like those wheels and if they were 17's I would have snapped them up when cruisin was selling them.

Cheers fellas. Love the bright silver of these wheels, so don't think I'll be powder coating any time soon.

Good word Mark, I think "tidy" is what I was after :D

Hey Smythie, didn't the MY06 3.0R-B come with 18's?

Anyone know where I can pick up a cheap STi lip?

Agreed, I think they look fantastic and differentiate your car from the rest of the pack.

Looks great. I think the STI lip will suit it well.

The unique choice in rims are sweet, kind of look like 08/10 STI rims.

It did - the seven spokers. While I like the look of them I got tired of the stiff 45 series sidewall and shocks. Going back to 17" has allowed me to go to 225/50 R17 giving me a higher sidewall and a much broader range of available tyres (eg 235/45 R17 if I choose to go down in diameter slightly)
