Get them powder coated in gun metal or perhaps a dark charcoal. Dark on dark is stealth and sexy but you want a degree of contrast.

Black on black looks too Mexican.

Excellent start and I like your thoughts on the mods as I've done similar to mine.

Feel free to contact me if you want any feedback regarding Ecutek, Sean's Hyperflow TMIC install and his dump pipe. Brembo conversion and Cusco suspension. ( all of it very good, especially S&J's work)

Cheers,

Michael.

Thanks Michael, will do.

Update: EA1251 has been installed. I drilled a 6mm hole in the cubby hole of the glove box instead of running it through to my centre console in the end.

- Great sound quality :D
- Doesn't read the Mp3 tags, just reads CD1 track 3 etc? :(
- Doesn't charge the new Ipod touch, but charges my old ipod? :(

Anyway I'm happy, Thanks Tai.

Nice work Hamish. I didn't have the balls to do it myself from fear of doing damage to the head unit, so I got the same local car audio specialist who got me the EA1251, to install it for me for an additional $40.

I agree that it's a pain that it doesn't read MP3 tags but I'm not really fussed as I know most of my library of by heart.

No, it doesn't charge new iPod's and I specifically bought a 120gb iPod classic for my Liberty for pretty much the same reason. Well, on top of the awesome HDD space too :P

Well i thought about getting someone to install it but i always think that because it's my car i will look after it more then people working in a shop, It was easy as, few panels just pop off and couple of screws and carefully pull the unit a bit out and drill a small hole into the cubby for the iPooood. :D

Have ordered my sti lip so that shouldn't be toooo far away.

Haven't heard back from Phat about my pedals or Sti lip badge though...

Nice and neat!

Does this gadget allow you to skip songs on your ipod?

My kind of mods there Hame....
You getting the JDM STi pedals like mine? Hot tip for you, the accelerator pedal will not properly fit our car (designed for MY10), and you will need to shave the back of the accelerator with a Stanley knife. Don't worry though you don't need to alter the part that touches the plastic bit on the floor, just a minor adjustment that nobody will notice as it's impossible to look at the back of the pedals due to the small space.

I'll take a picture of it if you want so you can see what I mean, and prevent you from putting indentations in your fingers that lasted a few hours and getting ready to hit things out of frustration

I'm talking about these pedals. http://japanparts.com/db/parts_detail.p ... ARCH_page=

They actually give you a slightly larger clutch + brake, and a maybe 20% increase on accelerator size too, good mod I reckon. (all vertical increases, nothing much on the sides)

Keep up the good work anyway, loving your car!

What pedals came with your car?

I'm after the ones from my old 3.0RB.
The aluminium ones with black plugs, hopefully Phat gets back to me.

Oh....mine came with the aluminium ones with the black plugs...but

STi ones rock man....why would you get the standard ones? They look cheap. Having said that, so do the chrome STi ones.....stick to the aluminium ones that I linked above!

The pedals i think your talking about are the standard ones on the gt-b...don't know why you'd bother changing them

Hamish, the accelerator pedal is a permanent fixture. (By permanent I mean the metal is pressed directly on the accelerator using some sort of machine...)
The brake + clutch + foot rest are the ones that can be moved. Foot rest unbolts out the entire thing, but guess what is rubber....the brake and clutch are still basically like a rubber sock with the crappy little metal plate connected to them.
Also I'm keeping my stock ones in case the next owner (years down the track..) doesn't want them. I'm going to take the high road and try and sell my car with mods and will take off parts the prospective buyer doesn't want to pay for....wouldn't like lying in their face about it being stock. Pet hate and all.
