Who does the dynamat for you and at what cost? I wouldn't mind doing the shelf on the BA as the factory sub rattles quite a bit and lookin to reduce road noise

Hey lee. I bought the dynamat kit off ebay. The seller is in adelaide too which was handy. I'll post up the link for the ebay item tomorrow. As for fitting I have a mate. You may know him. Daymow is the name he goes by. Used to have a au xr6. Now has an 05 wrx. He's done the dynamat before and knows what to expect. I'll ask him if he's interested in doing another car.
Cheers

All the parcel shelf did was stop a few rattles (which little bits of foam could've fixed) and stop some road noise. My sub still rattles, it's the actual cone itself going to crap...

Thing is I know the parcel shelf is making most of the noise. I got a mate who is a sound techy guy and has done this before to check it out for me and he reckons the sub is fine. He put his hand against the parcel shelf and put some pressure on it, and the vibration reduced quite a lot with no reduction in bass quality. Not sure if this is conclusive but it points a lot towards the parcel shelf being a major contributor.

I'll be happy for you to take a look for a second opinion Daniel. Seeing as you have already dynamat the doors and rear PS, you would have an even closer idea since you already have the lib to refer to.

Yeah it'll stop the rattling, I found most the rattling was the plastic trim hitting the metal parcel shelf, it wasn't the actual panel itself reverberating which is what dynamat's best for (added mass means it takes more energy to vibrate). But it'll only stop the rattling in a sense of stopping contact between the plastic and metal.

Certainly won't hurt to do it though :) If you're on a budget the doors are better value for money and just use a towel or something cut up to stop the parcel shelf rattling :)

That's interesting Daniel. Maybe I will get you to have a look at it personally to get your opinion on it before I decide what to do. I'd hate to go to all this trouble and its not the parcel shelf that's rattling. Are you busy over Easter?

Do you plan on replacing the sub while your there? It costs bugger all and you will get some good improvements. Still need to do my doors though.

Shav, have you gotten around to upgrading your dump pipe yet? I'm wanting to double check whether the X-Force dump fits the 2.5L GT autos, as per your posts in the following thread... viewtopic.php?f=55&t=19955

From the stuff I have read, that dump wont fit without you changing the steering knuckle to a wrx unit. The wrx steering knuckle is about $100. I have not fitted a dump pipe yet. But when I do I will opting to getting the dump pipe that is designed to clear those issues for the auto.

I was lucky enough to snap up Taylor's perrin F&R sways and endlinks last night. Hopefully get them fitted this weekend pending time and will take some pics and let you know the outcome.

Thanks Lee. It was too good to pass up. Plus the perrin name is known world wide, I had to do it even though the mrs frowned it down. :?

No worries. I recommend calling up the guys at Garage 88 as they have an off the shelf AVO unit I believe that will fit the auto's without further modification. But they do ask an added price over the manual variants. $900 or there abouts from memory.
