Yes but your tune has a lot to be desired.

A good tune with proper AVCS and timing tables will help manage this a little as well.

Plus do you have any cats? Or a resonator/muffler in your mid pipe.

You're a young bloke too. You like the look at me affect..

My whole system is magnaflow and it would be legal, I reckon, should a noise test be conducted.

And from an emissions stand point?

IT WORKED !!!

I have a quieter start down to 77 dba and maximum sound pressure level of 80 dba at 3600 rpm. At idle, it is barely noticeable, down around 60 dba I reckon, but WOT sings well and some beautiful Boxer 6 induction noise. I am very happy with the result. Still a little bit of rasp, but most probably a reverberation on one of the many heat shields. On the way home, the stereo had to be turned down and now plays well at 12 on the volume dial. Before I would travel on 20 to 25.

Success from my perspective. :D

Pics and videos to come, maybe on the weekend.

Here are some pics that I took today:

Image
Not sure you can see it, due to the flash, but there is light at the end of this tunnel.

Image
And this one. The two slight bends in the straight thru perforated section contributes to the additional noise reduction

Image
A pair of HiTech dual tip mufflers that will be going cheap shortly, along with the xForce front 3-inch muffler.

Image
A comparison of the side profiles of the Hitech vs the stock mufflers. The volume of the stockies is about twice that of the HiTechs and this is where most of the noise reduction is coming from.

Image
Another profile shot of HiTech vs stockies.

Image
Sleeper stealth look. But with the flow of a 3-inch. :D

Great to see you happy after spending so much time and effort on this one!

What is the 'xForce front 3-inch muffler.', I am always interested in adding shiny stuff to my car :)

The xForce 3-inch front muffler is the front section of 3-inch stainless steel piping from the xForce cat back system with a 4-inch resonator as the muffler. For my purposes, it was too loud so I had a custom 4x9x18 inch Magnaflow oval muffler put in it's place. We did not modify the xForce part, but made a complete new front muffler section that bolts up to the cats and to the xForce Y section.

I will post it up on the For Sale thread next week, but here are a couple of photos:

Are you running a thread on your fuel issue? So we can all learn from it? Or at least a summary post when it is resolved?

WTA fills the gap where the main intake plenum chamber used to be. It is all finished and operational although no way to really monitor it's effects as there is no Manifold Temperature sensor (as far as I know). Power has gone slightly backwards due to the mods on the intake and exhaust sides, which in theory should provide less restriction. The position of the MAF and BOV have both changed slightly during this install so the re-tune will be required before any gains can be observed.

Re-tune is booked for Sunday with Kido (Matt) and followed up with a dyno session on Monday, again with Matt.

I will post the results here once completed, probably late Monday.

Look forward to the results on Monday. I am very impressed at your dedication to make the car exactly how you want it. It's hard these days with a lot of bolt on stuff to get something that your are 100% happy with. But you seem to just do what you want.... And I love that.!! Keep going

Dan
Not a Subaru...... Something MUCH better

Thanks Dan, I am looking forward to it also. Mind you, this project has not gone smoothly (does any project?) and there are some lessons I have learned, but I am starting to feel much better about the results with a fair dose of patience and perseverance. No need to mention cash as we all know that is way over budget!

Agree with the above

Always easy to go off the shelf but customizing to suit what you want (especially when they're almost paradoxically opposed) is difficult and thus commendable

Keen to see final results of this build
