Which extension housing did they try to use?

The preface GT was pretty different in many respects

I empathize j - hated waiting around for mine.

Will be worth the wait

The compatibility website that these motor trades use listed the boxes as compatible.......

I miss the noise, power and the handling.

Really should get a video with a good microphone for the exhaust thread.

I have the full 6 spd manual conversion ready so if I break the Auto it gets a clutch 8)

Have a few things that I will work on over the coming months:

1. Install Perrin UpPipe blanket afterdoing a leak check in the area.

2. Get some front bar mods to improve airflow through the WTA once i have it back. (I'm only using about 60% of it currently)

3. Redo fuel system

4. Install 4 Bar MAP sensor

Busy time ahead.
CURRENT - ATP GTX 3576 - 22psi - 283.7awkw
OLD - Dom 1.5Xtr - Last dyno 254ahkw, previous 238ahkw, first 224awkw.

Load a vid up for sure - keen to hear it when back on the road

Which box you using? Full dccd or just liberty 6 speed?

I have the same thought process now - thinking of ripping the auto out this Xmas and dropping in a dccd jdm 6 speed, liberty tailshaft and spec c plated r180 rear diff and torsen front LSD

Just liberty 6spd & diff.

235 sticky tyres offer a lot of traction, hence why breaking drivetrain components now....

So not going to worry about lsds n such with current turbo.

Will bother with at next stage if required :D

Badly needs the phenolic spacers on too and this will be done at fuel system rework.

Needs more tuning time once 4 bar map is in, spark retard on gear change needs much more to reduce torque as the next gear lands at peak torque.

We will run out of turbo anyways. Some point the manual will go in along with a Tial EWG n GTX3582 plus Tial housing. My plan for next 12 months anyways.

When Matt is over next I'm sure we will sort it, so this auto last longer. Much road tuning in hills is needed.

Gotta have a plan :D

How easy is it to convert to MT with the AT ecu???
After two centre diffs in 3 weeks, I'm eyeing off this option also!

I can answer that in detail

Maybe this week sometime I will put a how to up

Its not concrete obviously as I haven't completed it but 99% sure of what needs to be done

Hardware wise you can do two things:

1. Eliminate tcu, grab a manual abs module, biu and cruise control module and have the key recoded to suit

2. Keep the tcu but fool canbus into thinking its in neutral when clutch is in, and in drive / gear when clutch is out. This is for the cruise control and for abs to work, as both these in the auto take a trigger from the tcu. I also suspect (but still to confirm) the inhibitor switch and lateral g sensors provide input into the tcu which need to be redirected.

My way would be number 2. This would involve wiring in the clutch switch off the clutch pedal as a trigger to tcu instead of neutral safety switch. Would need to fit speedo sensor to 6 speed box. Would need to rewire all trans wires and sensors etc.

And the most obvious being the trans tunnel mods. Easiest way around this is a custom crossmember which would need to be made out of plated steel and engineered

In both cases, also need a speedo input or speedo no worky ;) TCU is the speedo based on shaft and ABS speeds with calculated gear ratios

Lateral G sensor definitely wires into the TCU (been reading the FSM and wiring diagrams as my late night reading in the passed week as I can't go on late-night drives at the moment :( ), but whether it's for CC functionality I couldn't say

Sounds like I'll be searching for a wrecked manual to scavenge the ECU and loom, BIU, cluster, etc. etc. And do that way.

Or buying a manual pre-FL GT and swapping my engine into that

I have the entire TCU software mapped. Steering Angle Sensor and various other inputs are there to limit kickdowns mid corner etc as well as manipulate the ECU's engine torque limiters.

It is possible to manualise the auto as CANBUS by design just stops talking to the TCU

Well, all new clutchplates installed in box and it is all back together, new extension housing coming by Monday.

Will take it easy for a while while a new rom is cranked up by Matt.
He should be able to improve those peak torque violent changes.
Will install the trans cooler thermostat straight away too.

I'm just curious - why didn't he set those changes right in the first place?

He claims having tuned plenty more powerful 5eats than what yours is making, (yours is still on pump isn't it? Imagine when you put E85 torque through the diff) - according to him, he's an expert.

When an engine blows due to a rough tune, the tuner is responsible, and so with a gearbox - when he's directly tuning the shifts... J, I'm very impressed you're being so polite with this tuner bloke. :(

Auto was supposed to be strong enough.........didnt worry about taming changes as they were grin inducing....

U n your Matt bashing agenda... tuning your own car yet?

Sorry man...I understand, libs and WA especially don't have a sea of tuners to choose from...just makes me angry when a tuner experiments with other people's cars.

My car is good :) Fuel supply has been upgraded, also have been talked into getting a few more mods lol...then off to get the tune... as for the 5eat shifting, I'm happy with mine. It was a mechanical limitation, not a tune issue that I had in 1st gear, some expert advice/work later and I'm about 95% happy with it all now :) Wheels wanting to spin on shifts is grin inducing indeed!

When are you doing the E85 thing?
