Hey mate,
In regards to the cubby install, as far as I know there is a part for it... I found out about this from legacydan however I didn't try to source one as I decided to give it a shot myself. I've only seen one other member on legacygt.com do the same thing.
His and the picture you posted above is a little different in that the headunit and the face itself sits inside/flush with the cubby hole so no trimming or a little modification was probably required. I chose to have mine sit further out/inline and use the trim around the face of the HU as I wanted to be able to access the CD loader if I needed too. You could get away with angling it down a little more so there is not as much of a gap on top.

Check out my thread > viewtopic.php?f=22&t=15409&start=15

It cost me about $150 including another cubby hole to cut up, primer, paint, clear + filler and a few extra bits and pieces. Not yet 100% complete, will be repainted. Overall I'm very happy with it :D
It really isn't hard to do.
Hope this helps, feel free to message me if you have and questions

Adam, its your car so you can do it however you please...

They are all OK-ish, but if you ask me, I'd go for the blue K2 Gear. However, the others would provide some additional shade from the harsh aussie sun.

Just installed a few new bits on my car over the weekend. Put in some solid STi Engine mounts to replace the crap stock ones, put in a billet alloy pitch stopper, fitted some new lower arm bushes/anti lift kit. Now my dump pipe no longer knocks on my steering knucle when cornering hard and car handles like a dream.

Also fitted a Greddy RZ BOV plumbed back, a cusco brake master cylinder stopper and a very sexy boost guage.

I was planning on getting new front & rear bumpers, spoiler, side strakes, bonnet scoop and fenders but an opportunity has arrisen to do some serious performance mods to my car in the next month or so.

So im now weighing up which turbo I should go for and all the supporting gear to go with it. I would like to avoid too much turbo lag and keep the peak torque at around 3000rpm. I am chasing about 200-215kw at the wheels.
Might consider some new engine internals too. Any suggestions?

Haha I was waiting for someone with a decent camera to come and take some :p

BOV sound is only slightly louder than stock as its still full plum back at the moment, havnt tried it venting to atmosphere yet.

Do you have a CAI mate? I have the RZ as well and a Apexi CAI and it is decently louder than stock even fully plumbed back. And it flutters in low revs too

Im a fan of the K2 gear spoiler. But the best spoiler i have seen on a wagon was when Mark (cruisin) had the Blitzen one on his.

But that was a pre facelift car, dont know if there are any differences that would cause an issue with fitting to the post facelift

That's why you can't hear it on plumb back haha, but why were you advised not to? If you are going to go 200+ the stock airbox is a bottleneck. Let it breathe more :D

I hope you can get to 215, my goal is 200 don't know how successful I'm gonna be given it's an auto...

I have just been told by a number of places here in WA that its not really worth doing and usually causes more problems than its worth, and gains are negligble. Im not sure how true this is but if it does eventually need changing its an easy fix.

I cant believe the difference the engine mounts and anti lift kit made, its almost like driving a new car.

Ha! Well I only finished those mods on Tuesday afternoon and flew out to work on Wed. Might have to catch up for some evening shots on my next break? Mini photo cruise?
