So I fitted my rotors and calipers yesterday. After some sponginess and unhappiness on my part on the drive home from my uncles I revisited him today for another bleed session. Found that a leaking line was the cause of some of my unhappiness.. Swapped the lines over from my old calipers and wallah - we are slightly better..

Still a little unhappy with how spongy they are, completely flushed the old fluid out today and replaced with new stuff.. And I'm sure there can't be anymore air in the lines. Anyone have any other ideas?

1. Are you running stock rubber lines or stainless braided lines?
2. Are you sure the bleed didn't introduce any air into the system?

Stock rubber lines & I'm pretty certain we've done all we can to remove any air bubbles bar a pressure bleed. The rubber lines shouldn't be a factor I'd think, they are only GT calipers

If they're the original ones and 7 years old I'd place my money on those or an issue with the bleeding. Not that I know shit though. I'll know in a month or two whether braided lines make a difference to the spongey prostate growth that are my 7 year old rubber hoses.

Well prior to fitting the bigger brakes they were fine, even with 7 yr old hoses. I've done some research but to no avail :( please pass on your findings

Oh OK. I wonder if the bigger brakes require more pressure to move the pistons and the greater pressure is causing greater expansion of the rubber hoses?

I recently fitted GT brakes to Huy's 2.0R albeit with braided lines also.

Pulls up as well if not a tad better than my Outback with 4/2 pots and braided lines. When I drove it after fitting.

Stupid question, but the calipers are on the right side with the bleeders pointing upwards?

Yes they are definitely on the correct sides, the bleed nipples are pointing up.

I used genuine dot 4 Subaru fluid & the pads are Bendix. Don't get me wrong, they pull up so well, I just hate the spongy feel

Just upgraded my brake lines to Goodrich and it made a big difference. My pedal used to almost sink to the floor after I braked and now it's significantly firmer and more responsive. May be worth looking in to.
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!
