peadya100 wrote:As fun as manuals are, they're not quite as quick at the drags. Even on my old tune I was half a second quicker at the drags than manuals with the same mods such as Dave's. Modern autos are so efficient and remove all human error from the equation. You should see the golf's and audi's with DSG at the drags... they're lightning fast!

SIMBAT wrote:Pdk's are only quicker than a normal manual if they have a launch control function, but a pdk can only launch 2 to 3 times in a row before they go into a limp mode to cool down, where as your conventional manual can do launch after launch after launch, as long as the clutch isn't underrated for the hp the engine is producing.
Plus in my opinion theres no fun drag racing in an auto, you just sit there. Unless you can drive manual, then thats a different story.

For fun, give me a manual any day. But for drags, where I'm trying to get the fastest time possible then give me an auto. Might not be as fun, but it's quicker.

I think there are some GTBs in manual trim that will give you a good run even with less mods and different tuners do different things. Driver is also key in this.
