Surprised how easy it actually was.. and I HATE body work... almost as much as I hate interior work..

Took just under 2 hours.. would have taken an hour had I actually had a drill.. forgot I loaned it to a mate..

So instead I used a combination of a knife, large bore self tapper and screwdriver to make the required holes..

Anyway, piece of piss with the original fitting kit..

Yes I know the car needs a wash..

Pretty bloody happy with it..

Any product suggestions for headlights?

I usually use AutoGlym stuff for everything.. but am open to suggestions

Front lip looks good :)
Are you still planning on getting the Ultrex grill? CF or fibreglass?

Cheers... I'm stoked with it..

Was awesome meeting you guys the other day.. to say I'm a little jealous of your combined car collection is just a little understatement..

Yeah, planning ultrex grill.. just gonna go fibreglass.. can't justify $300 for a grill..

Was good finally putting a face to the name - you'll have to come up once the '86 is back together again, should be in the next few weeks (hopefully!)

I've got the fibreglass grill too as I didn't want the carbon fibre look on my car, just had it painted to match the car

would love to see that 86 in 1 piece.. i told my brother about it too..

also convinced my mate with the 8MR to go get a tune as soon as he gets back from his holiday..

i checked on the Ultrex site, but they seem to be out of stock of the FG ones.. guess ill have to wait..

i think the next thing im gonna focus on is the exhaust.. im loving the note, just want a bit more volume.. im really not after more power so may just delete the middle muffler or get a cat back..

need to focus a bit more on the race car for a while.. im itching to drive it again.. AWD is great and all, but im missing some RWD hilarity..

So finished work early the other day and decided to finally chop/weld the middle muffler..

Quick and easy job... here is the result

I'm happy with it.. no drone at all, loud when I want it..but not too loud... sounds a lot deeper as well..

Will still do the rest eventually.. but will do for now..

The video angle makes it look like they stick out a lot more than they do.. in reality they stick out just a bit.. enough so I don't get black marks on the bumper..

Gonna change them to quads at some point though... I'm not hell fussy about things like that though... not while I still have suspension, rims, a tune and a new grill to focus on... plus... I can't see them when I'm driving... :D

Oh.. also found out that it's one hell of a steady/stable car at high speed too.. picking my mate up from work yesterday (a very remote WA prison.. stretched its legs on the private entry road... got it to 225 and it was stable as... pulled up back to 100 real easy too..

Started the long, tedious process of detailing my car this arvo..

Was gonna get a detailer friend out to do it.. but thought I would have a go myself first.. if it goes tits up he can always fix it..

Basically..

detailed hand wash and dry
Clay bar
Mask all plastics etc..
Machine compound using mid strength product
machine Resin polish
Wax/paint protect..

Will see how it comes up tomorrow..

Good way to spend a few hours..

Will upload some before and after pics tomorrow..

Forgot to add.. using a mix of autoglym and maguires products...

One bloody thing I forgot was a headlight restore kit.. might pick one up tomorrow..

Well progress has been somewhat hampered...

It was a beautiful spring Perth day and I had the car clay barred and ready to go...

Nekminnit

Fkn pissed down all of a sudden... had to get the car wedged half into the garage..

Due to renovating I couldn't fit it all the way in otherwise I would have done it in there in the first place .

Overall though it's going ok.. having said that the maguires "ultimate compound" is pretty average... works ok on swirl marks, but not strong enough to get rid of deeper scratches... still.. I think it will pass the 2m test once finished..

Well.. it's finished...

Found lots of chips, scratches, dents etc... especially on the bonnet..

Had a detailer mate drop by and have a look.. he says it looks like the car was re clear coated at some point.. needs a fair bit of work to get it back to 100%

Having said that, I'm happy with how it came up..

Pics: the last shows how bad the bonnet is..

Your rooF is pristine, mine is terrible compared to the uniform finish of yours.

Nice effort.
