This is my personal preference but I don't recall what clearances from the side & bottom of the vehicle are required and it probably doesn't meet them. (edit: probably will.) I've been contemplating DRL's for a while and was considering dremelling out the middle horizontal bit on the foglight surround and mounting them smack bang in the centre (vertically). Would probably get some U/C channel rubber from clark rubber to carry the thick shape of the DRLs arround to the end of the surround. (hard to explain, if anyone gives a shit I will explain better)

Are they the Philips Daylight 8?

It is also my 1st preference, but when I went to measure, they were below the minimum ground height. They need to be 250mm above ground at the lower edge of the DRL and these sat at about 180mm from memory.

Yes, they are the Philips Daylight 8. I had a look at the cheaper kits and they were too bulky for mounting in the fog surround. I do not like the look of the 4xLED or 5xLED kits so for me the 8xLED version was sweet and narrow profile with a good mounting bracket as well.

Some of the installation in progress shots from today. Also included the tools needed. No Dremel required on the second fog surround and gave a neater finish from some skillful carving with the stanley knives.

Took a little while to finish off with some pre-drilled mounting holes and was a bit fiddely getting them in the same position for left and right.

EDIT: So, also add to the tools, a 2.5mm drill bit and a pin vice to hand drill the holes. The plastic is soft enough to hand drill.

And now for tomorrow, the wiring! I think I might do a rough in job to start, but in the long run, I am going to re-position the connectors to be included within the front bar so removing the fog surrounds with the DRLs will be easier. So will visit Jaycar tomorrow to get all the necessary bits.

Nope! The original badge remains. In fact, I need a new one as this is the original original and very chipped and cracked. To wit, to woo, Japanparts will do....

Completed the install today. Took all of 30 mins. Hardest bit was getting the scotch connector on the Parker 12V wire. Too lazy to take the battery out. Used double sided tape to put the control box in under the bonnet rail directly opposite the battery. All wires reached to that point with some spare length. Not sure if I will reverse the location of the connectors just yet. Might wait a while as they are pretty easy to get in and out with an additional 5 mins effort threading the looms.

Pretty cool the way the DRLs dim when the parkers or headlights are turned on.

Also did all the measurements and the position I have installed falls inside all the position requirements from the manufacturer.

Now, what's next? Oh, yes, the additional bits from Raptor coming soon!
