Want it to be built for 400 kw and run it at 300kw.

This is going to be very costly to get it working reliably at these power levels.

Goodluck, I'm keen to see where this journey takes you.

a closed deck block would be fine with no sleaves for that power, having sleaves is always a risk, read some of the guys on nasioc having problems and some are after a fair few km, don't seem to hear of issues with closed deck. my car is still fine after all its problems.. touch wood

Chatting with Robin (Perfourmance Motor Sport) a few months back about what to do with my Foz before I sold it, he categorically stated that no matter what you do, 275+ on 98 is risky business (mainly due to the amount of heat within the cylinder).
He also mentioned that clearances and the moving bits would be more important than whether the block is closed or sleeved (said he could sleeve a semi-closed 2.5L block and make it as reliable as making a 2.5L block closed deck).

I'd be interested to see what can be done with a GR/GV EJ207 short block...(you know you want to Dan  )

Good luck in the time ahead though mate

What im thinking is that the Darton sleeves should be fine to re-use ( At this stage )

So i may as well use them and get them machined by someone i trust. The machinist that my builder uses said he is the old school type of wog that it HAS to be perfect for him to do it. So he is very picky on what HE machines/uses. When he looked at my block he said " looks ok, pressure tests fine, but fuck i cant guarantee anything cause i didnt do the install"

Any way the cooling system was filled up and pressure tested and it RAN , yes RAN out of cylinder 3 ( Near turbo ).

So he is gunna grab his scope and have a look in there to see if he can see anything.

mmmmmhhhhh :angry2:

MMMMHHHH That was an interesting read.

They are saying that a good CD design will not need the sleeves.!!! And seems to be 'somewhat' proven as a drag car is only subject to 9-11 sec of flat out.

If you read some of the guys on nasoics build threads with sleaves lots have issues, weather this is due to poor installation or not who knows but closed deck cars don't seem to have a lot of issues.
my car is closed deck, your other option is to use the same kind of engine dr20t uses with the thicker stock sleaves

Yeh thats what im thinking, use a thicker sleeved/bore block from factory and close deck it.

Are those Gen 1 RS blocks any good? They are closed deck factory!

Evo's are fun. You should do that.

Sorry to hear Dan. Would you consider going back to a stock tuned GTB engine ?? Plenty power with reliable mods and tune

Out of interest are the evos much quicker in stock trim than a GTB ?
