My Cubbypod arrived today :) will post up some pics when I get the time.

My initial impression is that the material is a very rough finish, and the black paint on it is quite thin and can be scratched easily to show through to the white. I haven't test fitted it yet; I'm guessing by the time it's in the cubbyhole, it won't be noticeable.

Black Paint??? White when scratched???
mine is also a black rough finish but defiantly no paint, & my fit was perfect :)
admittedly i do have to check something out tho, cause now I have connected the gauges the door doesn't operate as smooth as it did prior to only having the gauges mounted & not connected :(

Some great photos of the cubbypod. Gives a perfect idea of exactly what it is.

yes mine has the same problem, black paint is easily removed or scratched off when you insert the gauges. Also the door will sometimes not want to close. Really need some double sided tape applied on the bottom of cubbypod so it sticks to the top of the clock.

I'm tempted to sand it back so it's more smooth, and then re-coat it with satin black paint... thoughts?

I think it really needs some sort of hard coating to enable it to retain its shape and hold gauges snuggly.

I considered that for mine, but in the end i didn't mind the matt finish of it, but looking at yours it looks crap in comparison to mine, it has made the quality product look quite cheap :(

What tha ????, hard coating are you serious ?? I found it quite firm for its intended purpose. I didn't feel the gauges needed to fit any more snug in the cubbypod, that is of cause you have decent mounting brackets for the gauges.

Must be early and late batches. THis definitely wasn't what I was expecting.

I also didn't get the CD logo in the middle either...

My cubby pod is more like heavy duty cardboard material to be honest. I suggest that yours is different from mine.
