car was dropped off at neway wheels this morning...come monday it will be like having a new set of wheels on the car...

on a side note...im currently not all that happy with the ride of the car...it crashes a little too much over bumps and potholes for my liking and on melbourne roads there are plenty of those around...at the moment the car has installed...

standard bilstein struts
tein s-tech springs (phat edition)
front lower control arm bushes (phat edition)

i also have a cusco rear swaybar and hd mounts but really that isn't going to make much of a difference over bumps as far as im aware...

these were all installed by pedders south melbourne who i trust and have done a fantastic job on setting up the car but i think its more the parts or something that im missing that is maybe letting the ride down...

while i love the actual ride height of the car at the moment...its perfect...i just want a more compliant ride, something a bit softer that isn't going to stun the car over the smallest of bumps, potholes, cracks, etc...as per my understanding of all of this which is pretty limited, perhaps coilovers with adjustable ride settings might be the way to go, or even could it just be running a softer compound tyre that might help..?

help me out forum boffins...what can i do to improve the ride and make the car a fraction softer as its never going to see a track and is a daily driver for me..?

I think someone needs to harden up a little.

Jokes mate. I found that the Phat Teins are more compliant even though lower than the STi pinks that I had previously.

Your uprated rear sway and HD mounts will increase the stiffness over stock which will be felt as will the LCA bushes. Its all a trade off handling over comfort.

What size tyres are you running currently?

yeah true...bag of concrete and all that...

i did find the teins more compliant when first installed...its probably the bushes to be honest that have hardened up the ride and just started to create a few rattles in the cabin...

it might not be a suspension thing but there is a really annoying rattle also from the front left hand passenger side when cruising or passing through approx. 2,000rpm and only at 2,000rpm...no where else in the rev band does the car rattle...engine vibrations maybe but it is more pronounced after hitting a large pothole or bump..?

I'm in the same boat.. Sort of. I found that once the bushes were installed, ride quality got noticeably harsher, where hitting cats eyes and small pot holes wasn't too bad with my worn/torn/cracked stocke bushes, hitting them with the bushes installed seems to send the impact right through the cabin of the car.. Also, not that I think it makes a difference, but I had both front wheels bearings replaced at the same time..This could just be placebo of some sort but that's just my observations.

Did you chop the rear bump stops? It makes things a lot more smoother, since the rear isn’t always bottoming out.

Also check your shocks for leaks, Bilstein are known for leaking and even ceasing, I had mine changed around the 25k mark and that was before the Tein’s were fitted.
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

I installed Whitleline Plus LCA bushes in mine. A fraction firmer but not alot. You will definitely start getting rattles in the cabin with your setup the older the car gets.

Maybe your just getting old?

Bring it around Saturday arvo if your free and i'll have a look. ;)

maybe i am mark...i have found myself deciding my next car will be something im happy with from the factory...just a shame most of those cars are north of 100k...

im actually interstate saturday arvo and then down the great ocean road for a weeks holiday...will give the car a good workout down lorne way and we can chat at the dyno day...even get a ride in yours just so i can compare the ride...might be happier with mine if i know everyone else is battling the same things...
