Hey Adam

If your going to go to the trouble of clay baring the paint. Use another light cleaner or cutter to get rid of all the oxidisation and fine up all the scratches edges and THEN use the sealer. The sealer fills the voids so scratches disappear.

Then wax over the top and you will have a professional job.
Not a Subaru...... Something MUCH better

NOPE..... That's shit too. Bus anyone??

clay bar is good cause if you use too much cutters the clear gets a bit thin so if you want to cut it again later on you might go though to the base colour

Well i started polishing my car on saturday with the DA..... what a massive task!!
Im really going to need to do every panel 4-5 times with the compound to get it perfect and seeing as how i only have a 4" pad and can only do small areas at a time its going to take FOREVER!!
I did the bonnet 2 times and the roof once. That took most of the day after washing and claying. It looks a million times better than before, but still a long way from perfect.

The first pic is the bonnet before the polish.... and believe it or not directly after the professional paint restoration i paid for

The second pic is my attempt at masking half the bonnet and just polishing one side to show the difference made. The far side is unpolished. It was very hard to capture the scratches in the photo. At this stage id only used compound on the near side.

Haha, yeah that second photo makes it look a bit better than it really is. But i can tell you without doubt that the meguiars DA definitely does what hand polishing cant, and a lot quicker than hand polishing... but its still really hard work!
If i had my time again i would buy a proper dual action with better compounds just to speed up the process a bit... but it will do for now.

If you havent bought a DA Ben i highly recommend this one. My friend bought this last week and used it on his black car and after only stage 1 of the 3 stage process it looked flawless (see photo). His paint was as bad or worse than mine.

You can get the same DA in a cheaper pack. Only difference is the brand of compounds it comes with.

The combination of better pads and compounds, plus a more powerful motor make it noticably better than the meguiars one i have.
