I just sheared a stud off the top of the strut mount today. It makes me so sad. Now I have to somehow press one out of the OEM strut and then dismantle the new TEIN one...

Tool of the week :(

They are just beyond finger tight, surprising how lots of the coilover hardware needs no more than nipping up.

Amazingly, my BC V1's are mostly silent, I just hit the top hat area with good qual dry lube once a month or so.

I'd drill the stud out if tapping it out doesn't work and just use a nut and bolt assuming I couldn't find a stud. The vendors that sell too hat spacers sell studs iirc, or try Bursons or Repco etc... Or try Fulcrum the Tein disty :)

At last I got a retune from Matt! :)
Who kindly installed the Pierburg 3 port ebcs bought from Brainy.

So far this tune (on 98) really ticks all my boxes:

I = 9psi or WG pressure
S = 13psi
S# = 15psi

Max requested torque is 80% iirc.

It's so smooth, sounds great and feels torquey.
And all with way less max boost.

I remember asking about lowish boost tunes way back when as I theorized that having a big 18+ psi hit early on, tapering to 15 or so at redline might not be the safest or smoothest approach. W    T!!!

So having this tune with 3 very safe boost settings and enhanced boost management with the 3port and the GFB GT Hybrid BOV I'm feeling more confident to do a DECA or track day in future :)

And Matt kindly diagnosed my leaking turbo coolant hose, the one that runs from the turbo coolant tank to the turbo.
So off to Makin & Luby for the genuine replacement item, before heading to Gotitrex for a BBQ brekky ;).

Part number 2 plus new clamps in the pic from Opposed Forces...

Last Saturday I visited Makin and Luby Subaru parts in Preston where Ashley ID'd the coolant hose and ordered it in for me. Make sure when you speak to him to ask for Forum (trade) pricing as they do like to support the enthusiasts. Basically its a 90 degree hose with 2 bends, 2 clips.

Image
Genuine and around $25 delivered to my local garage.

Its worth taking a peek under the engine cover for this issue, I'd assumed it was oil wetting the turbo inlet but the caked coolant on the turbo side coolant tube and the bulging coolant pipe alerted Matt of the real issue.

Image
Very slow leak when hot, like next to nothing, but for how long?

Image
Slight bulging after 190K...

Genuine coolant, long nose pliers, SCA extendo funnel, phillips to get the engine cover off, flat head to help push off the hose and some rags and water to clean up.

Image
Clamps squeezed, wiggle pipe off, catch coolant, clean pipe ends, hose on, clamps in place.

Image
I hung the funnel off the bonnet from a wire...

Turbo coolant tank cap off, squeeze in long funnel, top up coolant higher than cap height, idle car, heater on full, let car warm up, massage radiator top hose, look for a few bubbles rising, turn off car, pull out funnel & replace cap.
Edit:
I remove the fuel pump fuse and turn the engine over a few times to make sure the turbo is primed with coolant and oil. Then I start it up.
I added that last quote as its a good idea to get it all primed before proceeding...
Please correct me if thats not quite the right bleeding procedure...

Image
Massage that pipe ;)

Next up: refurbing the drivers side HVAC vent motor...

Nice one Ben!!
Wish you lived in NSW so i could see how it drives.
Out of interest, have you noticed your 3 port ticking when you come on boost even at half throttle? Mine is audible with the windows down, and ive been told that its just the 3 port doing its job, but it sounds a bit like something flapping around in the engine bay.

Much love for my Crumpler bag... I was sitting in Melbourne Airport on Tuesday and sure enough, had a guy on the seat next to me with the same bag. Gave each other the thumbs up!

I was absolutely stoked when I saw your bag in use ;)
Image
We are really kicking butt in the bag biz and the new hard luggage is already a success without a ton of promotion ;)
Image
Its the product of great leadership from the owners and director and an awesome team for the execution of the plan.

I'll be in Sydney next year so I'll give y'all a heads up ;)
But I'd describe it as Stock Enhanced, torquey and smooth with a rorty parp on boost.
I'm going to belt the Mystery Muffs back on for the full stealth effect and maybe hogzaust them if the silence is too much.

Haven't noticed any extra ticks, yet but its always had what I'd assume is some wastegate noise on boost.
I'm in constant keen anticipation of the opportunity for a drive.
Right now the Lib is spot on mostly thanks to this community and some considered fettling.

Do Crumpler still make the foot stool called the "home-zero"? I am pretty sure it was them. I know some rights groups were pretty upset at it.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.
