A few things done:

Did the 3 x 2" heater hose on fuel lines near the LHS firewall, insulated the wideband lead with some flex conduit, zip tied some random looms to prevent rubbing, added more foam to prevent all engine bay covers from rattling...

It's working! No buzzing :)

The 6mt lost some oil when I broke the seal replacing the driveshaft so I bought 1L Syntrax (it's a Docklands STi serviced car, thanks Gino for the info) and 2 x $1 SCA flex funnels and added 500ml :)
In my case, 500ml is the difference between the low and high marks.

I removed and lubed the heater vent motor but alas not a total fix, it still murmurs a little after key off.
Maybe there's another motor on the drivers side?
Could that be a normal behavior?
Perhaps I'll look into any HVAC self diagnostic modes...

And I finally installed the Filtermag from the recent OzFoz GB, on my recently changed OEM filter.
Just another inexpensive, peace of mind (snake oil) mod I find irresistible ;)

I broke my oil seal when refitting the drive shaft after the clutch replacement. It was a bitch to remove!

Yeah so what is the trick with not breaking the seal when refitting the drive shaft?

6MT gearbox oil top up:

Image
Grab 2 of these from SCA for $1 ea.

Image
Since mine is a Docklands STi serviced Lib its probably got this in it already... $30 @ SCA.

Image
Since the gearbox dipstick hole is way 8under the TMIC, double up the funnel necks...

Image
Image
Give the dipstick a wiggle and gently remove it, mine was on L due to loosing a little during the driveshaft swap.

Image
Half the bottle in.

Image
And now on F. Awesome my favorite bit of the car is safe and sound again!

You need another pair of hands to guide the shaft in whilst someone is at the hub.

Damn that was my mistake then. I kinda gave up on fully seating it myself and just drove it straight to the driveshaft shoppe, tearing the seal in the process.

So kudos to you if you eventually nailed it :)

Even my suby mechanic messed up the seal when he was fitting my new drive shafts. He was on his back in his garage though.
Lucky the seal just came out of place instead of breaking it and he was able to put it in the right spot a few days after.

EeePC 901 netbook for RomRaider Logging, Learning View and ECUflash.

Image

I've had this in preparation for a while and with Morbos help I finally have it working acceptably.
The 4 and 8GB stock storage is either too slow or too small to run XP so I spent $45 on a Kingspec 16GB mini pcie SATA SSD and used a freeware XP utility disc called Macrium Reflect to image and restore XP onto the new SSD via an 8GB usb flash drive and then Gparted Live to resize the boot partition. Id also recommend Hirens BootCD for this job as it contains every required tool, eg miniXP for running chkdsk, XLdriveimage for cloning and restore and GParted for resizing partitions and changing boot flags.

So it works great now, I've opted for system restore, a hibernate file and system managed page file so even with 16GB theres very little extra space on board. Which is fine as there will be a spare usb port (out of three total) and sd slot anyhow, and most of what I'm doing will be via the cloud anyhow.

Next up will be experimenting with fan control, over and under clocking via modded eeectl.
And displaying the XP screen on the stock Nav screen via VNCserver on the SGSi9000.

This EeePC is small enough to live in the car and is 12V powered as well so if you see me out and about chances are that I can assist with supplying a Learning View on the spot for you.

I'm capable of refurbishing most older XP notebooks and especially any MacBooks so please let me know if you have any old, broken, unused hardware around that you'd like to have upgraded or to sell.

Great use of an Eee PC. Could almost fit in the glovebox!
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

My freshly detailed glovebox 8)
No more lint...

Right now I'm making a Tasker App to turn on TV-out on the i9000 using touch input emulation.
The trick is to enable pointer location in Developer Mode in Settings>System, and record the action using a screen video capture app (SCR Free).
I sent the video to myself and played it back in VLC on the eeePC in slow mo, writing down the screen coordinates of the taps and swipes which I'll use in Tasker using the Run Shell action. :P

The i9000 TV-out automated task based on touch emulation using Tasker and root works well. :)

I made a task starting the app Settings, then added the 4 shell commands for the 2 pairs of swipes and taps required to tick the TV out box in Advanced Settings.

The exact screen coordinates didn't quite match the required input but that was easy enough to fine tune by trial and error.
Now the task can be used in any Profile, and for testing I'm using State>Power>Any and Headset>Plugged>Any.

I'm planning to add a relay to my OBDII extension cable to switch off connected devices when Ign power is off, so I'll be able to add connection to my BT OBDII plug as a condition in the Profile to activate TV Out, Wifi Hotspot, Torque App etc.

At the moment the Task is essentially a toggle, so once I work out the exact conditions that switch TV Out off on the SGS i9000, I'll be able to make a task for working around or preempting that too. :)

The Lib is attending the SubyClub Xmas bash this weekend and the WRX Club RTR Dyno Day next weekend :)
See you there!

In other news I bought a great value s/h Century Ultra High Performance 480CCA battery via RexNet.
My old battery was done: it wouldn't even hold charge for a wheel alignment and its currently on the vendors own de-sulphator to see if it can be reconditioned at least enough for another project in planning, powering a monitor for a video camera.
