I am very happy with the 380 rome! it spools up faster than stock and holds boost all the way, its definitely is a grunty little beast with a lot more to offer too. Just need an engine that can take it now :p

Haha the 380 is out of the equation for now Adam, but I saw that you were happy with yours which is awesome man.

And James it's the mid range power which will be better on the other turbo to, which is much more usable! I'm still torn between two but I've got about a week to decide if I want to keep to my own schedule :)

I am also having difficulties selecting a turbo at this stage... I really want the Tomei, but i have heard good things about the Blouch and BBK's... :(

I've made my decision ;) Too much f'ing around to get a Blouch here for a good price, using Australian dealers it doesn't end up worth it in the end when you compare the costs to getting a Tomei one here.

As I said I've already made my decision

Thanks anyway though Gambit. As a matter of interest is that a used or new price?

Yeah, i think i am leaing towatds the Tomei... Mainly because i have Tomei headers and the fact that it is Tomei... Brands always seem better and over engineered...

but which one can you get better numbers out of?
which one is more reliable?
or is it just a brand name thing?

thats when you ask yourself if its really worth saving those few odd dollars...

It's debatable which one gets better numbers. Both will be good for 200kw+ on a manual, jaydecee got 210 or something off the 380xt so I could only assume higher for the 440xt. The Tomei M7760 has had cars at around 320-330 whp in the States, which is over 200kw atw. Again, this would be a higher number with the M7960. As mine is an auto the single most limiting factor is the TCU and the stall converter so even if I get over 200 atw, you won't be able to see it on the dyno as the tranny will start slipping. On the road power will hopefully be somewhere in the 220-230 kw range, which I'll test with a quarter mile run ;)

Reliability I'd say would be about even between Tomei and Blouch...Tomei is a JDM brand and have been doing this for years, there is a lot of R&D that goes into the two turbos I'm looking at. Oh and yes, it's also a brand name thing with the Tomei ;)

Plus, Blouch has lately had terrible customer support, read a lot of negative things on the internet about them in terms of aftersales support, whereas Tomei has good customer support and I can do everything through Phat in terms of the turbo and after sales communication.

Also Simon, Tomei turbos are more expensive so it's not about saving the dollars, the price of the Blouch adds up here because the distributor has his high mark up, so the price ends up being close enough to the Tomei turbo to justify just going with the JDM brand ;)
