So ive just been thrown this option from another supplier.!!!

Starting to get up there in price.... Like another $800-900 ontop of celtics!!

This is what I'd be suggesting -

Subaru genuine timing belt kit
Subaru genuine water pump/gasket
Mahle 2618 alloy pistons
Eagle H-beam rods
ARP2000 head studs
Cosworth head gaskets
ACL race mains and big end bearings
Kelford cams and springs

As a bundle you're looking at $3980 landed on your doorstep.

Plus duty if it's coming from OS

You should also consider:
Engine & trans mount
Spark plugs
Thermostat
Injectors
Fuel pump
Fuel reg
Tune
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

What is the duty worth, generally?? 10%?? Also thought that he is quoting in US currency, so add another 10% ontop.

Mmmmh

Rebranded from another manufacturer who I trust and Tomei have their own specs they design their parts to :)

Also, no need to go to cams to get your power goal.
I would buy:
http://www.rallysportdirect.com/Tomei-1 ... Exhaust-LH
http://www.rallysportdirect.com/Tomei-1 ... Exhaust-RH
Will let you dial in the top end power better, I am running 5 degrees exhaust retard. Exhaust retard has more energy pushing down the crank before the pressure is released.

What you're proposing with regards to supplying parts and getting someone to install and tune them is fraught with danger.

You will see very little chance of any successful warranty claim as each party will blame the other.

Similar builds to what you're proposing, looking at your parts list, have been in in excess of $8.5K so it'll be interesting to see how you go given you're extended budget of upto $6.5K.

I'm sensing alarm bells in all this...

I agree with Bruce

Dan - I've said before man I honestly think you're best just getting headgaskets done and maybe pistons and headstuds

Keep it under 5k and that's it. Don't screw around with more

When you want over 300 then it will only be costing you another 1000 for labour to remove and refit, which will not be much for what you're going to be chasing.

Keep it simple. If you want big power you need to plan or spend big

Thanks for your concern Bruce.

My engine builder is happy for me to purchase the parts or himself purchase the parts. I am in contact with him about what is suitable or not. He has also given me some do and donts and what HIS items would be.

Before i buy anything i will get him to look at them and advise if they are suitable.

Thank Mick.

I have thought about this and i cant see me getting a second chance at doing it..... wife just doesnt understand it. So if i cant get sleeving done then that just means then that my max output will only sit around that 280-290kw atw to keep it all happy.

I have spoken to NRG and he said around $1500-1700 for the R & R

I then spoke to the Machine guy . He said budget $2k, max 2.5K. Service heads, deck and hone and boring of the block.

Then parts on top.

So if i keep the parts around $2-$2.5k then that will be all good for $6-$6.5k.

So yes Celtic and Tuspeed (<-there's $1500 in cams and springs) are FAR beyond the $2.5K, so im having a rethink on parts and have a couple of quotes coming back to me.

Dan.
