I'm waiting for a quote to come back for the wrapping.

Basically I've done the suspension work and nearly at an end with the engine. So I'm just looking at some cosmetic mods to make the car more individual and then we start again..

Already wrapped the support bar in the bumper. Results are on page 11.

Cosmetic mods will be interesting and will be a bit hit and miss, but will give a few things a try.

Update time:

Went in to see my tuner today to discuss the last of my engine mods and book a time.

Well the date has been set. Car is going in on Thursday 12 April to have the following fitted and tuned

VF52 turbo
ID 1000 injectors
TurboSmart FPR1200
AVO parallel line kit.
Grimmspeed AOS

This will be the final mod I make to the engine to prove or disprove the potential of the VF52 to make good power throughout the rev range. At this stage the tune will be for pump 98 BP fuel only. I've requested peak boost be set in the 17-18 psi range. From discussion with others running the same turbo and similar mods this seems to be its sweet spot.

I'll update my first post soon to show all the parts fitted as part of this build thread.

Pics, graphs and results will be up Friday night.

I had a chat with Craig and Justin today whilst I was at Revzone.

Other than that some of the guys in the WRX club track their 09 Rexs' and had a long chat with Barrie Crocker at the last club meet who has also built and had cars setup with the VF52.

Was really tempted to go E85 but there are no pumps around Phillip Island where I spend a bit of time on weekends.

Now for the waiting.

Will do. I forgot to say hi today as I trying to get as much info on what his ideas were on my tune and any expectations he had.

I asked for a bit more effort paid to the MAF scaling as that learning view screenshot showed a 10-15% correction being applied.

He will also be producing a high boost and low boost map to show the differences and we'll go with the one I prefer.

He's actually pretty happy I've done the fuel system upgrade as he likes to run a slightly richer tune with AFRs 10.8 as opposed to norm 11.5 as he reckon it adds a bit of cooling and safety.

I like his ideas so far and can't wait to see some results both good or bad.

Yeah it should make for an interesting coffee on Saturday. You'll have to have a drive and tell me what you think.

Though I'm more curious to see what Mark, Cruisn, brings with him.

Well keen on Tactrix and data logging etc so I may still do it. At this stage the thing that makes this a show stopper is the fact you have to cart around a laptop or netbook etc. I'm watching the progress of the car PC project to see how the boys there are going with R&D and might even have a crack once I get this bit of work out of the way.

I wonder if they can work out a way to do it via tablet instead so you can just stick an early model iPad or even one of the cheaper tablets in the glove box!

Well from what I can see you either need a replacement or piggy back ECU where you can select a map to run dependent on fuel type. Easy to setup but a bit expensive.

The other way would be the PC project stuff Hyrax and Dan are running with where via a touchscreen you could select a program that runs an ECUFlash with the right map. Those guys so far a doing a great job and I'm watching with interest.

From everything I've seen there is no development on the apple/iPad front for this functionality.

I might have a crack at some stage but my head hurts at the moment from the weekend and for now I just want to get the turbo up and running as sweetly as possible.

I've been doing a bit of learning on the tuning front with friends so thought I might concentrate on that side as it seems very interesting and something I could get my head around.
