That sucks to hear Adam! :angry2:
People are getting worse and worse these days, no one wants to own up to anything!

Hopefully its only cosmetic, and nothing mechanical was damaged!

Same thing happened to me when I had a WRX many years ago.
My mate had a plastic welder and fixed it up with a respray for $200.
Hopefully you can get it fixed properly for a cheap rate.

Thanks Peter... and everyone else!!
Sadly i think its going to need a new front bar and respray which will far exceed my $500 excess, so it looks like its an insurance claim. Just hope it doesnt effect my premiums too much next year. :?

You won't need a new front bar, it will be fine with a plastic weld and respray, you wont even know it happened.
Plus, that should be about $500 for that, so no need to go through insurance which void any insurance premium spikes

Well just a respray of the front bar is $500.. im not sure how theyll plastic weld a new section into the bar without it looking dodgy. Its damaged both sides of the number plate mounting. Im a very anal person.. i wont be able to handle it if it isnt perfect. My insurance company doesnt punish me if its not my fault, so ill only be up for the excess which is $500.

Last time I had to get my front bar plastic welded and resprayed it cost me $500... if you still have the bit that were broken, they can easily plastic weld them back on and use bog if need be. trust me, you wont notice a thing!

No, hopefully they have insurance and their company will then pay for everything. Just hope they have insurance or it's court time.

If the other party is known they pay for all the repairs (whether they have insurance or not), but in most parked car bingles, people seem to just do a runner which means youre left to pay for all repairs yourself.. and if that means going through insurance you have to pay the excess.

I see,

hmm thats F'd up :(

Yeah get a dash cam man, do what I did, wire it in nicely, ran the cable tucked under the edge of the headliner, down the pillar, thru the dash, under the carpet and into the center console socket, clean install.

Just be careful with the airbags in the pillar, dont go poking screwdrivers in there :D

That's fucked up Adam.

This shit really is the low of the low.

The dick that did this would have know that they hit your car and made the decision to drive off. A$$holes.!!

I had this happen to me when I was driving the wife's foz (not current one). Parked it and came back some 15min later to find a beaten up commonbore parked in front. The foz had been hit in almost the exact same spot as yours but because of the foz's extra height it just scratched the plate and the bar. What I did notice was that the commonbore's tow bar lined up neatly with the mark and even had silver paint from my bar on it.

So I waited for 30min and then wrote a note ( read a very nice and polite note) about their fantastic driving skills and their lovely commodore that had been fastidiously maintained and that if they cared to call me to rectify the damage that I would appreciate it.

Needless to say I didn't receive a phone call.
Not a Subaru...... Something MUCH better

NOPE..... That's shit too. Bus anyone??

Hahaha.. ive had the same thing happen to me.
I came out to my old car one day to find the towbar and the car attached to the towbar still resting against my freshly mangled number plate. I waited for an hour for the owner to come back and eventually gave up.... but not before i left a size 10 dent in their drivers door. Whilst i dont condone this sort of behaviour, the state of their car really didnt seem like theyd even notice the new dent... it did make me feel a lot better though.
