Been busy with my daily -

head
Image
turbo
Image
turbo oil feed - $270 to disassemble and reassemble and balance a brand new turbo because I'm an idiot.
Image

and my phone went for a swim, so between that and work/kid commitments, I haven't had much time to get to anything on the lib, but I got some goodies:

Redline goods trim kit and ID1000s
Image

Then a JDM SG9 forester steering wheel came up and I grabbed it - It arrived at work FRiday but I forgot to pick it up from receiption, so I'll grab it monday - I'll see if I'm happy with the condition of the wheel, and if I want to use the trim kit or not. Either way I'm using that STi airbag cover :)
Image

My fuel line came - PTFE braided stainless covered in black nylon. Got 3m; might need some more, but it's enough to do the lines on the intake manifold at least. Put an end on it because I could. If I was buying new I would just have used all black connections, but since the stuff I already have is red/blue, might as well stick to the theme.
Image

Finally today I picked up the EJ207 from my father in laws where it's been sitting for a month, because I couldn't get it in the garage. I split my engine and gearbox and with a bit of engine crane shuffling, moved it off to the side so I could bring in the new one on the engine stand. (Sadly didn't get to do any more - I had to go to ikea - which was part of the issue, the engine was on the trailer which we needed to get the new bed for our foster son).
Image

I also bought some STi lateral arms - I couldn't justify the sti steering wheel without at least all the suspension bits from a TBSTi!

Going to grab a 340L/h pump as well, and while I'm installing it I'll inspect my filter that was changed when I switched to E85.

More (but not a lot) progress...
Had a bit of trouble getting the turbo off... One of the bolts sheared, and the middle (least accessible) nut seems it was 13.5mm - all the 14mm gear I had slipped.
Image

So I took the up pipe off, and one of those nuts was seized too, so the bolt sheared. I got it off, and managed to get the vise grips onto the damn thing.
Image

SUCCESS! (and bolt carnage)
Image

I'll take the turbo to turbo engineering in thomastown and get them to inspect it to quantify what sort of condition it's in before selling.

Meanwhile, I picked up these:
Image

and a Cusco brake stopper.

I haven't done much more because I built this:

Nice, so the vf36 and stock ts headers will be finally be FS, assuming the turbo passes the VSR?
Not upgrading your dump at this point?
Nice kit for super spool and a comfortable 220wkw w/ supporting mods... :good:

Exactly, and if it's not up to scratch I'll at least get a refurb quote and go from there.
Dump was never stock, had to be custom to fit, so no real need to upgrade, and already have a 3" cat and front pipes

A few beers is what I need right now!

Wednesday night some lowlife gutter trash fuckwit asshole(s) stole my Astra turbo from my driveway while a massive wind storm raged. With the child seat in it, and my wallet (ok I'm an idiot, but fucking hell). I noticed this when I went to drive to work in the morning. I spent about 2 hours on the phone with police/bank/insurance and then worked from home. We also got a call from the hospital that a cancellation spot had opened up for our foster son to do a sleep study that night. The usual wait is 6 months, and this was one day after we'd been put on the cancellation list (at the top, as his issues are pretty bad). We made some calls and our awesome foster care agency was able to lend us a van to get to the hospital and get around for a couple of days (until Sunday). I also had multiple people report to me (after posting about it on facebook) seeing a blue astra turbo at illegal street events that looked line mine and was driving very dangerously.

I took my wife down to the hospital in the evening, then back down again picking her up at 06:30, then back home, then to work. Friday night I organised with my father in law to go and drop off the van and get a hire car, and literally while I was on the way there, I realised I didn't have a license, and therefore couldn't rent a car. Fortunately, after some thought, I realised I had an old license after I lost my wallet on the firetruck, but later found it. I was able to use this to finally rent a car. (This also involved several hours again of bullshit on the phone, and it turns out I needed to make a $200 cash bond, because I couldn't use my wife's credit card).

The policeman who originally found it noted he had called me in the report, but he hadn't, and the lady at the yard who was supposed to call me back didn't so I still don't know what happened to it. The only person I have spoken to who has seen the car was the fingerprint tech, who didn't notice anything. I don't know how much, if any of my stuff is left in the car (I carry a bag for emergencies, the child seat, and my wallet with all my cards in it. I also had $400 in cash in my wallet, which I assume is certainly gone).

So I'll find out what's going on there tomorrow. It's only insured for 4.8k (which is about what it's worth), but there's a much better market at 8-10k, and I hate being forced into it and the whole thing is infuriating. I've never wished as much violence on someone as I have for the unmitigated cunts that stole my car.

... anyway back to your regularly scheduled liberty posting, today I removed the oil pan

Image

Image

Image

That's some serious carnage.

My STi lateral arms also arrived:
Image

And my autoglym leather cleaner and balm arrived, I tried it out on my steering wheel with a toothbrush, and it looks pretty damn good!
Image

My turbo also got a clean bill of health, and is for sale, I'll post up a thread in due course.

I've also started a list of stuff I need to get done, I think I'm going to focus on the interior first, and get all that done, or at least close to, before doing the engine, so that I can be inspired by sitting in it - at the moment I have half the dash apart, and the rear seat out while I wait for the 340LPH pump to arrive. (Thanks Jackson :) )

When the pump does arrive, I'll pump out the remaining E85, it's been sitting too long. When the time comes I'll get some more.

Oh, and way to bury the lead, I also bought ANOTHER jdm front bar.
Image
Still need a spec B grille and a lip for it, so I'll probably sell my basically brand new and freshly painted front bar, fogs and completely unused refurbished STi lip.

I've got a Corazon from my old 3.0R. It's OBP, but easy enough to repaint.

New car - same as the old car!
Image

Got a BOV:
Image

Grabbed a spec B half bumper in black - mocked it up and I think it will look good, but we'll see when the bar gets here.
Image

Will add the corazon grille to it, and it should look good.

Just need it to be not so hot, no fires, and less stuff on so I can spend more time on the car. The good news is that since the new car doesn't need to be fixed anymore, I can move the lib back in the driveway and start work again.

I've also purchased some HD cameras and flood lights for a security system after my car got stolen, this will be a priority.

I'm also going to start looking into advanced alarms/tracking for the lib since I'm all paranoid now, and it's just worth it for that peace of mind knowing that the car is ok.

Thought about hiding a cam or crank position sensor switch somewhere? Only downside would be potentially super flooded cylinders maybe? but she won't be going anywhere.

Removed and sold the clutch/flywheel from the 5 speed with my new TP50 bit.

Bought some head studs, ARP 625+ should keep it held down.
Image

Found a bargain on ebay (with the help of the ebay 15% end of year deal) - $965 for calipers. (F+R) ... I was trying to buy an intercooler and engine/gearbox mounts!
Image

Oh! and I have a working theory for what happened to the car - Fuel pump was failing, it failed under load, engine leaned out, detonated with E85, BANG. That was all she wrote. This is suspected because I sold my fuel pump to Peter - who installed it, and it failed shortly thereafter, and it was a PSI pump, the same as the other pump that failed.

More updates!

I've got a turbo on the way - slightly smaller than what I wanted, but at literally half the cost, It will do nicely, and I should still see 250+kw

TD06SL2-20G
Image
Image

I went to install my short shifter - and I realised that I am a massive idiot, and that my TBSTi shifter is already a short shifter. I cut the extra section out of the surround while I was there and put the new bushes (thanks peter/BillyCorgi) on the shifter.
Image

Picked up a second set of fuel rails because they were cheap
Image

Although the 14mm to 11mm adapters don't seem to fit - apparently a little bit of oil and the vice should make them fit, I'll see how it goes.
Image

Picked up a parts washer from Super cheap
Image

Before:
Image

After:
Image
Image

Was cleaning up stuff and found some battery clamps and wiring, so I'll do this while I'm changing stuff on the car anyway!

Image

Also picked up a greddy/trust intake and pod thing, I'll put this into the guard.

Picked up a sandblasting cabinet to sandblast my brembos, still a WIP.
Image

Applied my steering wheel cover!

Image

Looks pretty damn good, and I wrote it up here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=31869

Sold my turbo, and my rims, so looking good to have new rims and all the parts I need pretty soon. Obviously I've started serious work on it - Still no ETA, but we'll see how we go.

Man, hurry up and get this beast running. ;)
Wanna see what sort of response you get with it before dropping some coin on a TD06SL2 for mine. Almost bought a vf37 with headers and semi useable downpipe last week but really want to only do a swap once.
