Just read through your thread. Awesome effort in such a short time. Seems you have a fair amount of mechanical knowledge and have definately put it to good use

Erratic boost appears to be fixed.

From the graph a few posts ago (this one); to this (full res here):

Image

How'd I do it? Black magic basically (electrical work...which I hate  )
I rewired the stock look with the STi MAP sensor plug and used the STi throttle body that I have with the built-in 3 bar (apparently; and I'm hoping :D ) MAP Sensor

It was actually pretty easy:
- take out alternator for more room
- cut stock MAP sensor plug off the stock LGT loom (leaving long tails on the plug incase I need to go back)
- solder on the STi plug to the correct wires (LGT plug is (L->R) Earth, signal to ECU, 5V power; STi plug is signal to ECU, earth, power)
- Swap LGT throttle body for STi one
- put shit back on the car (TMIC, BOV, etc)
- have a beer.

I must admit, I did hold my breath when I first started it, half expecting I'd FKD it up and thus the CEL would come on, but it didn't, and still hasn't after 100 km or so of driving and a few 2nd a 3rd gear log runs :D

Very happy

Cheers
Sean..

Thanks :)

I'd like to think I know enough to keep myself out of trouble, but just enough to be able to cause right royal FK ups if I think too hard

Ok. So I'm having some fuelling issues and the car is leaning a bit on WOT above about 6,500 RPM.
Eric (tuner) suggested I check the pump seals and filter to see if it's not working right. I did but as far as I can tell, they're fine. Pump is DW65C which I used in my Fozz on E85 with no worries.

Could there be something I'm not seeing? What can I inspect next?

I'm not overly worried as 11.4 is about as lean as it gets on WOT, but this is after sitting at 10.4-10.5 for the midrange revs.

Thanks
Sean..

The trick is to measure the available current at the pump end itself.
Some models had thin wiring and got 1-2+ less voltage at the pump.

I have a JDM STi Fuel Pump Control Module spare if you need one.

The full fix if required is to run heavy gauge wiring to the pump in conjunction with a relay to the FPCM.
Pump speed is controlled by pulse width modulation of the negative connection to the pump.

I'll dig up the links:
viewtopic.php?p=365402#p363982

Alternatively: could you have one of the dodgy batch of DW's?
Double O rings on the pumps outlet?

Bit of an update.

Got the 98RON tune finally sorted.

I did some runs down the ¼ last week with mixed results. I only did two runs as I wasn't going to push the auto. Both runs were within a shade of 14.3 @ 101mph. The time does not equate to the trap speed in my experience (consistent 13.4-5 @ 98 in my Foz). But the 2.3s 60' explains the slow time. I was happy.

So...switched to E85 yesterday. Did a few hundred km through out the day and topped up another 30L.

Off to an area I like to use for logging and did the dumbest thing nice ever done. Put my foot in 5th and instead of slipping it assploded.

Engine sounds fine but there's a nice metal grinding noise coming from the box.

If only a 6MT conversion was easy...

Hold on. What happened? You put your foot down in fifth? Shouldn't it just back down into 3rd?

Was probably holding it in gear - the prefacelift auto tcu doesn't override driver input

If you put it in 5th in sport mode manually, then its staying in fifth unless you're coming to a stop

I'm still having trouble understanding. If it holds 5th then wouldn't it just lag until it reached a certain speed/rpm to pull itself along?
