The car sits about 1.25 inch lower than a standard SpecB but is about the same as an STI (which were lower).

I go to Wakefield once every 4 to 6 weeks. Best time is just under 1.12sec but that was with semi slicks, 8 inch rims and Phat mufflers.

Leo's correct, I was at the Liberty day last year. Didn't get there until quite late due to work. Only had time for one and a bit sessions as I unfortunately overheated the brakes and had to park the car (hence the motul 600 and the slotted rotors).

Ahh yes.. I remember now.

Didn't you have some ECU issue as well? Yeah that was a shame having such little track time that day. Woulda been good to see a few more Lib's on the track.

Mate,

you should just tell eveyone that you're such a smooth driver, it doesn't happen to you.

Yes, I arrived at Wakefield with an ECU problem. I'd driven from Canberra via the old road at a leisurely pace and in one section of twisty stuff I was being held up by a VT or VZ shape HSV ute. When I pulled out to accelarate in 4th I had an engine shut down at about 5500rpm, so I limped it to wakefield. A few people had a look at Wakefield and no error showed on the ECU. After sitting in the car park the car seemed to right itself. Later diagnosis by my tuner showed a fuel supply problem, hence the STI injectors and higher capacity fuel pump going on the car.

When I overheated the brakes I was still running standard brembo rotors and standard brembo pads with standard Subaru brake fluid. That said I had completed one session and went straight back out for the second session and had basically completed 18 and a half laps before they let go and judging by the lack of pedal I'd say the weak point was the brake fluid. So the standard Brembos aren't too bad. I haven't had a repeat since the motul went in and the slotted rotors went on.

I'm still not happy with the Hawk ceramic pads. I'm thinking about going back to the brembo pads for road use but the dust makes my silver enkeis look like the gun metal and the cost - I was quoted $1050 for front and rears by Subaru.

The Hawk Ceramics are only a medium duty street pad.

Try the QFM A1RM pads which are made by Queensland Friction Materials. By all reports they are the same compound as the Racebrakes RB74. They have fitments for just about anything, and if they don't for some reason then they can make custom pads if you send them the backing plates.

Both the RB74 and A1RM pads have been tried and tested to be very capable at Winton and Sandown. The only catch is that they are not that expensive so a lot of people look past them.

I just bought a set and getting em put in tomorrow. http://www.gslrallysport.com if you want to check out prices for your car.

Get some 600F racing fluid as well; they sell the Lucas brand.

When I had my WRX I used RB74 and they are not as good as the propaganda suggests.

I was in the Vic WRX club motorsport scene when Racebrakes developed the RB74 and at the time they were a great bang for buck, direct fitment pad but the downside was they were very hard on rotors and I still hear that today from the few still using RB74's who compete in the VIC WRX club motorsport.

IMHO there are better pads out there now and that's why I think RB74's are being overlooked.

Contact either v-sport or competition friction and they can recomend pads to suit your needs.
