If I grind 4th one more %^$# time haha...........is it true there is some sort to plate between clutch & flywheel that stops the clutch from fully engaging? Was told this from one guy that's all. Told me you can remove it?

I preferred the close ratio box in my ol' MX5 any day.

Rant over :|

How does the clutch feel in general driving?? Soft, spongy and at the top of the pedal travel??

I think it may be a clutch on its way out.

But it also could be the syncros in the box that are farked.... The 5 speeds really aren't that strong
Not a Subaru...... Something MUCH better

NOPE..... That's shit too. Bus anyone??

No, the clutch is excellent. Heaps of travel & very firm. I think it's the synchros, @ least 4th but, does it in 1st, though rarely.

I did read using a lightweight synth oil mix works well. Also, I am more conscious with gear changes now & rarely have the problem now.

If it does become a big problem, will definately change the oil to this or something similar.

Well after knowing the car much better have not had the grind in 4th again. Conscientious now so, will see how this goes for now. Not looking forward to gearbox oil change just yet.

Stock boost appears to be 12psi as I wound the boost controller back to minimum & this is the highest reading I get. At least I know I won't be abusing engine & box @ this boost. Performance is still good so, will leave it as this for now.

Economy, even taking it very easy isn't impressive. I read the single T conversion gave better mileage than orig' TT set up, supposedly due to boost coming on later. Release launch of the car claimed 10L/100km fuel economy. No way I will be seeing this regardless of how easy I drive. You wonder how they come up with these figures? I'm lucky if I'll get 480 out of the tank from this easy mixed driving lately :bad:

Well, pleasant surprise  Filled tank today & it has done 450clicks from 48 litres. I'm stoked haha. Was getting scared as the needle inched down. May not be great economy but I was looking @ a disaster. The friggin alarm is the only thing I'm over now. Wouldn't start after parking for 5 mins. Has a Mongoose alarm replacing stock gay set up........really testing ma patience ma :)

Haha hopefully it behaves itself and I get about 450kms too from my B4 so it is pretty normal :)

Yeah, I do drive it pretty sensibly most the time. 98RON price dictates that

Sitting on 15psi full boost @ present & liking it. Tbo, I prefer the way car drives if I allow the lower gears to rev out a little @ 5-10psi then booting it up in high gears to 15. Speed limits kinda make it pointless really :?

I'll be dropping the oil again as it's a tad too noisy for me. The flush I did when I got it was a quick job with the old oil & filter. Not the way I should have.

So I'll put a flush through it one more time. Fill her up with Mobil Delvac 1 5W40 diesel. See how quiet she runs then. May resort to a 10W40/50 oil then if it's still too noisy for my likeing. It's not bad bad but, I read that the 10W still gives good performance?

Maybe a bit premature but, oil looks like it's cleaner this change around. Here's hoping :assassin:

Ruff launch but, way to go haha. Thanks for vid!

On a certain forum, some like to point out these aren't Rex's. Bit of ignorance really seeing as though Aus delivered Rex's aren't that much @ all. These are tougher than they get credit for. 6 speed boxes weren't around til' mid 2000's anyway?

Speaking of gearbox's, mine wasn't making any bearing noises as I first thought. I now put it down to the box mounts just making a noise on take off & when gearing down sometimes. All it is imo. The STi's do have the stronger internals & bigger port heads etc but, the weight advantage is the biggy for them  Why do you need big port heads if your only making under 190kwatw?

There's a guy also on another forum (prolly here as well?) spent gazzilions on his Gen3. 245kwatw I think he dynoed last? Nothing much until around 4krpm then, slingshot to heaven! That is my pick for a Rex hunt right there :assassin:

Personally, wouldn't want any more lag than I have now with this fussy box. Would shat me ta tears.........

This is on my list hopefully up ahead. Only mentioned the big port heads as I nearly bought a V3 STi, prior to this. Mentioned the 245awkw as there is another member lives near me thjat has spent rediculopus $$$$'s & nothing much happens under 4krpm. I call that lag city lol.

When I ran 17psi, was @ 15psi @ 3200 & full boost by 3400. Yeah, the 5 speed is why I dropped the boost to 15, along with not knowing the AFR's at WOT

Bugger the NB o2 gauge. Got an Innovate digital WB AFR gauge & sensor from NZ for a good price, to go with my boost & oil pressure gauge I picked up last week.

Does anyone know where to get a pod or best place to mount 3 after market guages? Have seen them mounted on a Gen2 Liberty pillar. Might be the go. Can you get a pod for a Gen3?
