Thanks Mick

It started slipping about 5 minutes after starting the car as i was accelerating up to 100 on the hwy, so not hot at all, it only slips when boost hits around 10psi.
It's got a tranny cooler fitted already, I'll MSG Matt and see what he thinks.

Cheers Chook.

Which tranny cooler did you get? Also, did you notice any slippage on the dyno at all?

It's a genuine Subaru tranny cooler, I got it fitted along with a full trans service and an increase in line pressure with some valve body mods after my first tune with Scott after he noted some slight slipping on the dyno, just waiting for a call back from Scott to see if he noticed any on the last tune!!!

Ahhhh fluids are still full and clean no visible leaks, hey Mick what was involved in swapping the 04 with the one from you? Is it just the plugs that don't fit?

If it was 5 minutes after starting the car I doubt it's slipping because of the temps, the tranny temps don't even get warm until at least 10 minutes of driving, even more since you have a tranny cooler. What could be happening now is overcooling. If the transmission isn't warm enough the TCC won't engage, it actually needs to be a certain temp to start locking up just like if it's too hot it will slip. Given that it was so soon after you started up it might not have been warm enough.

Did you get a thermostat installed with it? I'm planning on installing a thermostat when I get my transmission cooler installed, so it will only actually operate once the transmission gets over a certain temperature.

Hope that all made sense

PS who did your valve body mods and what was involved?

That does make sense however it was around 20'C and I have had similar scenarios on much colder mornings with no slipping, no i didn't get a thermostat fitted sounds like a good idea though not sure what was involved with the valve body mod the mechanic is John from Capital Mechanical cost around $200 with noticeable changes to shifting and take off

Well that rules out overcooling, but I still don't think the temps could have gotten hot enough for it to be too hot either so that doesn't pin point why it's slipping :(

Nice, I wonder if that valve body mod is different to what Climber D does over in the states, it is certainly a lot cheaper!

Yeah I think it may be worn out clutch packs,
I'll have a chat to him and see what was involved and let you know

That would be great thanks! See if he can only do it on the pre-facelift valve body or if he can do it on a post-facelift valve body as well!
