Looking back at how it all happened i think the issue is that i was still accelerating as she jumped on the brakes. Cause i have brembos and i had used them a couple of times from home as i was 5 min from home so i dont think they were cold and this was a vt commonbore so i would out brake her no dramas.

But we were in bumper to bumper traffic and she would never move with the traffic when it would be stationary. So i had beeped her twice i think to tell her that the traffic was moving, so she would floor it a bit to go.

Now i had both my kids in the car (2.5 yr old son and 6 yr old daughter) so there was no flooring it or being stupid. I just think that once again she wasnt watching properly ( and me too obviously!! ) and took off and still wasnt paying attention and saw an orange light and jumped on the brakes, not realizing that they had literally just turned orange. But i was trailing behind her hastie take off and i was still accelerating up to the traffic speed ( 50 k at most ) and was still in a mid gear acceration when she did her emergency stop. And by the time i went from accerating to braking it was too late.

It feels like a combination of small things that lead to a big thing, my front end modded!

We were both amazed at how little damage or should i say no damage that was present on her car. She spoke to her husband twice while we were exchanging details and repeatably said theres no damage, i cant even see a scratch. Judging by the front of mine, there has to be some on hers!! Will wait and see what happens. Its getting assessed on monday

Thanks for all the kind words. Hopefully ill be back on the road soon all fixed!!

Dan

The only accident i've had was very similar. No where near as much damage however.
Light turns amber, she brakes hard to avoid being awesome, i don't brake hard enough as i'm obviously way too awesome, tap!

Nothing you can say or do as you taped her ass, rule book says you can't tap ass unless invited to.

Sorry to hear man.

This just goes to show though that they teach you a 3 second rule for a reason, and small lapses in concentration make all the difference!

So the Commodore driver got an STI in the ass after a ramming, and it ended up being a bit painful for both parties who still exchanged details afterwards.

That's wrong on a few levels, but glad to hear everyone's OK and hopefully you get the car back on the road again soon.
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

Yeah, years ago I had a little front quarter panel ding at low speed.

8k for each car.

My car was fixed in a couple of weeks. The other guys car was a few more weeks after that.

Its a way of not saying that i fucked up!! Hahaha

First and last crash. It has made me appreciate the Sti even more as i have been cruisn around in a 93 ford laser auto 1.6 carby...... And it stinks of oil and the window tint ( put on 20yrs ago ) is starting to make it impossible to see out of the windows as they havent been cleaned in atleast 10 yrs and it was never designed to last THAT long.

But hey beats walking.

On the good side of things. Its all been approved by the insurance co so i should hopefully be back in my Sti in a few weeks. Yey fecking yey!!

Glad to hear about insurance and whatnot, be good to get her back on the road! It's amazing how accustomed you become to your ride and forget what you used to have to drive..
