Quick update -
I had taken a deposit on the car before it exploded - deposit returned and previous buyer bought a horrendously cheap H6 wagon instead.

I think the car blew because the oil was too cold (given the temp outside (0 deg)) and the water was only just up to temp. I think it's time to invest in an oil pressure/temp guage.

It's sat outside the front of my house for a long time, I was planning on returning it to stock, and had organised to swap in a friends motor after he put a GRB STi engine in his. Plus, you need money to do things, and other stuff had come up.

Rims sold.
Exhaust/BOV sold.

Image

Infact, I had removed the shockworks and 'sold' them, fortunately the buyer had some issues and couldn't pick them up, so I've put them back in the car now.

.... now I've bought an EJ207. (installed 20kkm ago, car was written off from behind)

Image
MY02-05 AUDM EJ207 short block
High volume oil pump
reconditioned EJ20X heads.

To be installed:
V10 (MY11) JDM STi cams.
head studs.

So I need a new exhaust and BOV. (and there's a LOT of work to get the engine together and in the car - I can't see it being on the road in much less than 4 weeks, 3 if I'm lucky.

will likely still be selling the car after this, but it will be kicking ass in the meantime.

If anyone has a catback they want to sell me for a reasonable price, let me know!

Good luck with it all

If your selling again you should have considered going stock engine etc return to stock.
Isn't that way better ?

Engine and gearbox out!

My front left driveshaft has rusted itself into the damn hub, so it's still in there, just popped it out when the gearbox was on its way out, will hit it with WD40 a few times over the next couple of days and see if I can get it out. Even if I can't, I can pop it back in the same way.

I used a big copper drift on the stub to free it from the hub... Needs a few hard sharp hits :)

Good progress

I wouldn't have your son under there Matt it's just you never know factor.

You have no jacks supporting or tyres or the like under the sills for extra precaution

So many accidents

My top feed Sti TGVs (deleted) have a bent fuel line :(
Image

Might cut it there and join it, or just get new fuel rails. will do parallel rails too since I'm there. I'll also have to machine out the splitter, the EJ20X/Y doesn't have the splitter at all.

Eyeing off these:

CARNAGE. There's supposed to be a rod on there - something has gone VERY VERY wrong.

Image
Bit of a pain to get off, and filthy due to the oil explosion. I'll flog my TGVs to a WRX guy who wants TGV deletes for a sidefeed.

I was scrolling through yahoo auctions and I accidentally bought a fujistobo exhaust :) - It'll be here in a long time, but should look the goods as it's come off a wagon in japan.
Image

Then yesterday the new engine arrived at the e-go depot.

I grabbed my trailer and went to pick it up and it turns out the trailer is about 3cm shy of a pallet. We managed to squeeze it on like so:
Image
But I thought it would fit in the trailer so I didn't bring anything to tie it down.
I went 300m up the road to a petrol station which only had occy straps - they're not going to cut the mustard, so I kept going slowly down to K-mart and managed to get some ratchet straps and tie it all down safely.
Image
Image
Did all this in the morning before work, and the engine came along for the ride.

While i was at work, my 1guage arrived:
Image

I'm quite sick atm (so there won't be too much work on the engine very soon unfortunately), so I came home and gave it a bench test and it all seems to work:
Image

Unfortunately a little surgery will be necessary to get it into the Cubby - the screen has plenty of room but the circuit board is significantly bigger.
Image

Still deciding on fuelling options. Not sure whether to go top feed or stay sidefeed.

Nice pick up on the Fujitsubo. Won't find a better exhaust in my opinion and I would have one on this wagon if I could find one at a half reasonable price. I have a Fujitsubo exhaust on my Gen1 wagon and it is the perfect balance of noise for a full performance exhaust. Looking good.

$800 landed :)

Fixed my fuel conundrum! Just picked up these rails and connections for $200 - add some fuel lines, some injectors and I'm winning.
