I got my springs put in today. LOOKS FANTASTIC! Sits perfect! It actually made it alot lower than what me AND the guy that put them in expected! But sits perfect!

I thought id post this for a bit of a laugh. We've had a bit of rain the last couple of days, and i live on a dirt road with a dirt driveway....so this was my car this morning before giving it a quick wash....it may not be as funny to others, but keep in mind im a car detailer

Oh forgot to add, ride comfort is hardly sacrificed! I actuly dont feel any difference comfort wise, infact the lack of rebound etc makes it MORE comfortable...for me anyway! And it makes the corners all that much funner

Yeah but its very different with me...Ask any of my friends or family, i wash my car daily, sometimes twice...ocassionaly 3 times +

Carl, that's fantastic news! I'm glad to hear you're happy with how the car sits and how it rides. A lot of people are afraid to give up the ride comfort, whereas I found it more comfortable because it doesn't bounce as much.

I look forward to some daytime pics where we can see the car's stance. Don't forget it'll settle a bit more in a few weeks time for an even more aggro appearance.

Yeah its gone in for its alignment today..BUT! I have a question...

When i dropped it off the guy doing the alignment said this too me-
"Ill call you when its done...but i don't know how well it will come up with it like this"??????
What does that mean? He walked off before i could ask him what he meant...

He went on yesterday about how badly i needed a camber kit? Would that be what he meant? And i know i need tyres, but surly that wouldn't effect the alignment? Any ideas? Would i need a camber kit THAT bad? They are quoting me $700 installed..is that pricey? And i know theres a big massive huge thread about tyres lol, but whats the best bang for bucks tyre?

When I had my car lowered and then aligned, I had to raise it due to no camber adjustment in the rear (mine's a wagon though). So, it might be that. They said a kit was not available for wagon, but there is one for sedan. Tyres affecting alignment is interesting. I asked my guy about that due to changing wheels the next day - he said that it may a slight diff but I wouldn't notice. He's right - I didn't.

As for $$, I dunno as I had all my stuff done at once. Someone on here should know though. You don't have to have a camber kit... That is, if you're prepared to go through tyres every 10,000km!

For the rear camber they would of been talking about these;

But for alot less (and alot less adjustment too, although it says you can still get +/- 1.25 degrees), you can get;

Either of those fit on sedan's or wagon's.
I've got the adjustable arms on my Gen III wagon, but basically the same suspension as a Gen IV.

D'oh! Carl, if I knew you were going to get an alignment so soon I would have warned you not to get one yet. Well, not unless the place you're going to is willing to give you another alignment for free. Because springs need time to settle, and once they do they will be a bit lower after a few weeks, after which you'll need an alignment.

Some places will tell you to go away and come back in about 2 weeks, while others will do an alignment, and then have you come back in 2 weeks to do another alignment ... usually for free.

Haha it sure is! Its actually not rusting, its in quite good nic, just not on the road atm, waiting for a engine transplat! So its covered in leaves lol.


Arith- Dammit! These people mustnt know what they're doing....they were freaking out because they couldnt fit the alignment in yesterday, so made me bring it back first thing this morning!
It doesn't really matter i guess, ill havto get new tyres very soon so ill get an alignment then anyway.

Sheppo9- Any idea on how much these would cost to install? The guy told me yesterday that its a full days labour involved!? and that's why its so expensive!

How much camber are we talking about here?

I have lowered plenty of subarus and never had an issue. Maybe -1-1.5 deg on the rear, which is hardly going to wear the tyres out.

I run 2.5neg on the front with as much dynamic castor as possible and minimal neg on the rear with 0 to -1mm toe (don't do this of you aren't used to the rear end moving around) This is for daily driving.

I can't imagine that you would get that much neg on the rear.
