ARC Air Duct Attatchment (CF +)

Postby GTSPECB STI » Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:39 pm

I have been waiting for the mod for some months. I have test fit and it is so simple to fit. Includes reasonable instructions, 3M double sided tape, and ARC sticker. Pics of install forthcoming.

I'm glad its a simple fit for you mate, cuz it sure wasn't for me. At first I thought it was a dud one, but then after much research into the matter I found out that a few people (mainly from the US) have reported varying off-fitment issues, and in the end concluded that its simply a lucky/unlucky thing with these ARC scoops.. strange considering I thought this was mass produced..

By looking at it, it appears to be one of the easiest mods to do.. but here is my saga if you or anybody is interested lol

After procrastinating for a few weeks, whilst picking up my Zero/Sports grill from phat, he mentioned the same thing as above and added that he usually has to sand down the edges to make it sit flush. He said it fits perfectly onto the B4s though... On top of that, he said the best way to mount it is to stick it on with silicone or something similar as the double sided tape it comes with is completely useless against everyday temps, im not sure what he used but it was black. On top of that, he said the best way to mount it is to take off the scoop itself, which means removing the bonnet lining and paying for a replacement set of the Subaru clips since they are non re-useable, silicone it up and then leave it clamped overnight. I ended up getting him to do it for me, and the end result is nice and flush. If I had the chance, would I buy it again? No..

I'm sure many people have done it their own way without all the hassle of the above, but phat knows his shit so I trusted the end result would be perfect, and I was right.

I had issues with the double-sided tape on mine after a while, too. Probably doe to poor fitment issues and dust getting in along with the heat :P in the end yes it was glued down with the black tar sh1t that panelbeaters use. Now it ain't goin anywhere :P

No need to take the scoop off, though I can see why it would be convenient.

I need more of those bonnet lining clips too. After fitting the Zero/Sports Cool Action II, it just isn't the same any more :(

OK, where, who and how much.

Been after one of these for a while now. However, gluing it to my current scoop is not what I want to do, I was hoping for a full replacement item??? Does that exist???

Nope, only comes as you see it in the pics above. Its like a scoop 'garnish'... unless you're willing to buy a separate scoop so you can interchange but I dont see the point in that. I didn't want to glue it at first either but in the end it was just the most effective method.

There is one, I think I saw it on another thread on here... Maybe a K2 product but it looks like a bulge as opposed to scoop... Anyone know the thread that can link it here? (I did a quick search.)

It fits B4 Legacy or Gen IV Liberty perfectly and there is no need to glue or silicone it for fitment. 3M double sided tape works a treat and has been used on all my other CF mods with no issues to date.

Thanks for that boys. The K2 thing's a bit unsightly :bad:

I was hoping that there would be a replacement plastic shroud that'd replace the current factory item that's on the front of the bonnet scoop. Might see if I can take it off and get the local plastic fabricator to see what can be produced and at what cost.

How much are these K2 and ARC items?
