Kca399... I did, just to save my tyres :)

Well I'll add that to the shopping list, cheers Benny.

Thanks for the feedback guys, they really do change the look of the car and give it some life.

Niiiice :)
Kca399 if excessive camber (eg results of laser alignment), to fix excessive inner rear tyre wear, or if you run out of toe adjustment to fix the cambered tyre wear. Or even if you just like stock spec alignment ;)

Looks mint. Shows you don't need a stupidly wide rim to look the part.
Only downside is they won't fit over Brembo's with that width and offset.

Sweet ride mate! The slotted discs make a huge difference.

Where's a link to get a club sticker?

Cheers

Search traction prints online. Beware though, both mine took over 6 weeks and 2 complaint emails to arrive. Whoever runs that business doesn't do a great job.

And yes, the slotted rotors are a nice touch. I've since repainted the wheels to a graphite colour, just haven't gotten any solid pics to update with yet :)

Updoot time!

After making 3 trips from Bendigo to Geelong in 1 and half days on some very shitty roads, one of my CV shaft boots decided to crack and blow grease out everywhere in the engine bay. This burning grease on the catalytic converters smells very strong, makes it easy to tell that something has gone wrong. Pic of said destruction;
Image

After deciding that having just moved with work and uni to sort out that I'd just pay a mechanic to fix the boot for me (thinking it'd be an easier, stress free solution). I took the car to PDR Differential & Driveshaft specialist and was quoted $90 for the fix. Simple enough that got done and i drove it home. I wake up the next day to see that it's pissing out gearbox oil. YAY.

Long story short, the guys at PDR had damaged the seal where the shaft meets the centre diff causing a leak. Two weeks & many liters of oil on my driveway later the guys replaced the seal and it's back to normal.

I decided to finally paint my works in a graphite colour I got from autobarn. Used a can of paint for each wheel, and 1/2 of primer per wheel and around 1/2 can of clear. I was being very generous on the paint to try and ensure a strong finish to resist stone chips. For a home job totalling $107 inclusive of paint, sandpaper, primer, clearcoat and masking/prep materials I'm pretty happy with the result.
Image

Also bought a replica tbsti front lip which was an absolute pain to install, of course the mounting brackets never line up. Many twisted brackets, some cable ties, and some securing hardware later and it was on. Such a pain in the ass but it was worth it, definitely needs a coat of black paint when I can be bothered.

Went on the club.lib cruise from Diamond Creek to Cardinia Res, was a great drive and the rain made things quite fun. Met a bunch of nice members and got some great photos.
Image

Now that I'm well into the uni life and living expenses are kicking in I don't think the lib will be seeing any further mods for now. There's so much I'd love to still do so who knows, regardless it's a great fun car as is.

Oh Man what a debacle! Glad it all got sorted in the end. That is some pretty serious grease spray!

Rims look awesome! I am thinking of doing mine soon also in a similar colour, from matt black. Where did you get your lip from? I am after one too at some point.

Study hard then mate :D

The grey I used is the only one that's labelled as "wheel paint" at autobarn, I forget the brand but I can try and track it down for you next time I'm in there.

I got the lip from elitegarage, honestly I wouldn't bother with it and I'd just buy a legit tbsti one if i were to do it again. I paid $200 for this and the fitment drove me nuts, far worse than any other "bolt-on" part that I've experienced.

updoot time again.
(The forum is killing the photo quality so I've linked the high-res versions of each photo underneath if anyone cares)

I've left this one so long I can't even really remember what the car's been through, I'll try do a quick recap from where i left off.

Not long after the cruise I managed to let the clutch go early when going into 4th and that was followed by some very nasty crunching and grinding noises. Now whenever the gearbox warms up I crunch going into fourth, it's fine when cold. I haven't had a huge look into these gearboxes or really know anything about them but I'd assume I damaged the synchro. Perhaps I can get some kinda thicker oil additive to help it since the problem goes away when the box is cold.

I've never been a huge fan of how my car has looked, always preferred the styling of my gen3. I always put it down to the wheels, at first I really like the cr keis but the fitment and offset just wasn't my style. Sooo I impulse bought Alan's set of tbsti Enkei's and I absolutely love them, with the spacers and pulled guards i couldn't be happier.

A week after buying these off Alan, Jake and I finally got around to swapping my CR Kei's for his RPF1's. I've always wanted a set of these too but now I'm in love with the tbsti wheels. It's a tough choice to make because I really should only have one set so I can move forward with more parts. Haven't had the set of the RPF1's on the car yet either because the way my guards are set up I'll probably need a 10-15mm spacer for them to have the same fitment as the tbsti.

Credit to the wonderful Jake PT for these photos.

Also picked up a cusco rear sway-bar and some rear E-wing spats for cheapo from a mate. Yet to install the sway-bar but I like the look of the spats.

Gave it a service at 162,000km and found that the right-hand side head gasket was leaking. Engine still ran great and it was only a minor oil leak but I wanted to get it fixed while I had time off uni in June.
Image

Water pump, timing chains, rear main, rocker covers, head gaskets, spark plugs, and a bunch of small seals etc are all being refreshed with genuine Subaru parts. I've also ordered a chromoly lightweight flywheel from Xtreme Clutch and Exedy heavy duty clutch. So far parts are totalling around $2200, which will (hopefully) get me another 100,000km.

Engine is currently sitting in a thousand pieces while I wait for some parts to arrive, hopefully it'll all be back together and running by mid-july. Then it's time to start saving my pennies again for the S/C kit.

I'd also like to add that I got quoted $7-8k for the everything mentioned here to be replaced (labour + parts), minus the clutch and flywheel, by the local Subaru specialist mechanic, Trent Coughlin Motors. What a joke! I was always going to be doing it myself so that I could learn the process but seeing how much it costs to get one of these engines pulled apart I'm even more glad I've gone this route.

I'll leave this post with a few extra photos and I'll update once everything's back together and it either runs or dies :)
