December 2018: Much to my surprise I've only done 4,800km's in my car in the last 13 months meaning that it's been that long since I've done my last service. So fairly overdue. I've found out my oil filter has actually been leaking, which has been flicking oil onto the drivers side header. Anyway, popped the car up on stands.

Drip, drip.

Quick clean of the plug with a new washer.

Genuine is best.

New filter on.

Plug on and oil in. The usual Penrite 10w-50

While the car was running a little low from the leak I've always been pretty good at keeping it topped up anyway. Hopefully no damage. The oil that came out looked ok.

I've got to be honest, lately I've been pretty non interested in the car. I haven't felt the way I've felt for it in the past. It's pretty likely 2019 will be my last year with it. I've learned a lot and enjoyed it but it's never felt like a forever car.

However, there is a very big round of things ready to happen to the car, I've just been gathering parts for the last 6 months, but after that the big mods anyway will likely stop, or maybe they won't, time will tell. So this is what's now waiting to go on the car.

- Subaru R180 LSD Differential
- Mantic Stage-1 ms1-2133-box clutch

Wow love it :good:
Deja-vu: did I already ask why replace the 6mt with a fresher item?
Going any upgrades on the way?

The current box has a really worn 4th syncro, plus its leaky. Also the centre diff is ROOTED. Replacement came at a good price from a friend complete with a diff and everything. It's nice cause I've driven the car that the box came from a few times.

December 2018: The car was feeling great after the service so I thought I'd take it on a no destination drive. I ended driving around for like almost 5 hours. Remember when I said I wasn't feeling the same about the car, well, after a drive I felt the way I used to feel. God this car is amazing to drive!

Anyway, here are some pics from the trip.

January 2019: Happy New Year everyone! My brother and I took the advantage of a quiet early morning today to take the wagon and my bike out for a cruise around the Royal National Park. I haven't given the car a real corner fang for a while, even with a wacky rear alignment it handled like it was on rails. I really see why people say what a difference a rear swaybar can make. I can't wait to take it around again when all the new goodies are on.

Speaking of goodies. Bits from CMA finally came.

Beautiful pics as always James.

With all this rear swaybar talk I'm excited to get mine on and see how differently it drives.

September 2019: It is with much sadness I announce that I have sold my liberty. I've been thinking of doing it for sometime but I wasn't sure. I was contacted by the person who bought it months ago which expressed interest in it.

It was however not in the state I wanted it to be in before it went so I had to sort all of that first. First thing on the list was I had to sadly retire the SKD55S plates.

Image

Image

The car would head to Victoria, so yellow standard issue plates would do for the meantime. Yuck.

Image

Image

The car then went over to Ichiban to have everything I had to put on the car finally put on. We had a few issues there however, one the way home the reverse cable started to make a lot of noise, as it wasn't secured properly, I took it back and they sorted it straight away though.

Image

Image

Then out of nowhere the car decided to start miss firing, which was odd cause it had brand new spark plugs put in. It was late on a Saturday and Ichiban had closed to I couldn't go back to them, and it was the day before the car was going to be picked up. Luckily for us, Subie Doctor was open and they sorted us out. Turned out, 3 of the coil packs had broken clips holding the loom on. Now whether they were broken before or not I can't confirm. However, one of the three loom clips had a cable tie holding it on. Either way I would've happily paid for new coils if I knew it was an issue. Subie Doctor swapped them out and we were back in business. I'm just happy it didn't happen when the boys were driving back.

Image

Image

With everything sorted, she needed one last bath.

Image

Image

Still cleans up well.

Image

Image

I decided to take it out with the boys one last time.

Image

Image

Won't miss this.

Image

Image

Found a cool spot showing off the bridge.

It was so great to go for a nice long drive in the car all fixed. It has never been this good before. To be completely honest I'm not exactly sad to see the car go. I have learnt so much with it and had a great time. It seems like its going to a good home where it will have much much more done to it. I've simply come to the end with it.

The boys came the next night to pick it up.

Image

Image

I'll still be lurking in the community and it certainly isn't my last Subaru or Liberty. But I have my heart set on something already and that'll have to come first. A Gen 2 wagon will come one day.

Thank you all.
