Gen III black grill

Postby bugli » Sun Apr 04, 2010 12:30 pm

Hey guys,

I had some spare time on my hands this morning and I decided to paint my grill and get rid of the chrome. It was a pretty expensive mod so make sure you budget for it, in total for degreaser, paint and two sheets of sandpaper set me back $6.71 :P

Much much better! I think I'm personally getting allergic to chrome. Seen way too much bling on shitty cars these days. I love the matt black stealth look ;)

No plastic primer, no undercoat? Cant see it holding up to well to stone chips.

Lokks neat though. :)

Not yet, Im going to re do it soon - It was the first time Id ever done anything like it so it was more a test run to see how it turns out. I'll give it a month and then go again Ive still got plenty more paint etc. and I'll just have to buy some plastic primer :)

Thanks for the advice, do you recommend using a coarse sandpaper and then a finer grit paper or just the fine?

Michael.

Use coarse sandpaper to scratch the chrome (800 grit or so). Then use about 1200 grit to smooth it down. Then plastic primer

Ethan I don't think that grill is available for gen3 series A,B or C. Why don't you get a legacy grill they pop up now and again
