topic notification email problems

Postby parso_rex » Tue Aug 04, 2009 2:21 pm

I'm having the same sort of issues with aanet but they are generally hopeless in this area. I'll just point my DNS to one of iPrimus's ones instead.
Solved

Now if only I could get to the bottom of the post notifications never being sent I'd be a happy man- don't want give ric grief atm though :)

It's not at your end.
GoDaddy are doing something wierd (probably to prevent websites transmitting SPAM), which is interfering with a lot of the topic notifications, but leaves PM notifications alone. I'm still chasing this up.

I wondered it if it was my own ISP but since I use a couple I sort of negated that quite quickly. Then as you say PMs work fine . Very weird
Thanks for letting us know anyway plus it makes me come back and check the forum more thouroughly :)

I've just reverted the email module of phpBB back to the previous version, which seems to have stopped the errors, so hopefully the emails should be coming though again.

Ric,

My email notification is on again / off again and it is (used to be) my prime source of indication of thread activity so I did not have to trawl through each thread to see if there was any response. I guess I will go back to the old manual method so I keep upto date.

I've setup an account on an autrslian based host, and will be testing it out over the next couple of weeks. If all goes well, I'll move the board there, as Godaddy seem to be causing these problems.
