Re: Flooded... :(

I know how you feel. A few years ago I had similar event except it was salt water that drowned my car. The high tide mark was about 5 or 10 cm higher than yours. Water poured out of the ECU when it was taken out! Fortunately the insurance company declared it a write off without any hesitation. Good ...

Re: Air Con - Petrol Consumption

Depend on circumstance. In city driving studies have shown that air con can add 5% to the average fuel use. So in the city, windows down! On the open road it can be the opposite - the additional drag created by open windows can increase fuel use by more than air con compressor, so windows up, air co...

Re: Bluetooth and McIntosh - any reccomendations

I use the Parrot 3200 (which my audio man installed with my sound gear) with the McIntosh head unit. It mutes the audio (rather than simply cutting the power) and plays through its own speaker (which I located in the useless "centre" speaker space when I changed the speakers). It worked pe...

Not a suby but ...

Driving to work on Friday and spotted this little number - those who live in Sydney will probably understand when I say, it could only be found in Newtown (and there's no photoshopping involved)!

A frequently discussed topic - do a bit of research on the forum and you will find detailed answers. But briefly: 1. NO (again, many different opinions here) 2 and 3. Amp/speaker upgrade will make a huge difference, but sound deadening would be first change. That may be all you need - but is not was...

There's no such thing as a free lunch! If it is selling on a long list of "features" then it is appealing to a particular market - not one that has audio (or DVD or GPS) quality at the top of it's list. Brands such as Eclipse and Alpine gained their reputation on performance first (which d...

There seems to be a lot of "mis-information" out there about fog lights. Yes, in most states it is illegal to use them unless there are fog conditions or significant weather conditions that justify their use. If they are true fog lights there is little value in having them on in non-fog co...

Repair of most of these are things that are reasonable expectations of a "new" vehicle. Every time I have taken delivery of a new vehicle I have given the car a fairly thorough inspection (even had the Dealer tell me it wasn't necessary because of the warranty). Consumer law is a bit "...

Have to see it in the flesh before I pass comment - hopefully it is one of those designs that doesn't photograph too well!

Knowing that it is domestic spec, the 210kw claimed power output is interesting. How close will ours get to that?

My current ride is the 08 GT-B and my previous ride was an 06 3.0R-B. On the fuel economy front there is not a great difference in "normal" driving conditions. If you exploit the full power of the turbo on a regular basis then it will use more fuel (and deliver more performance!). On the o...

In NSW at least, it is just as illegal to have a GPS mounted anywhere that it impedes vision. Even hanging things off the revision mirror is technically illegal. Will you be booked for it - unlikely, unless you are pulled up for something else and then they can add it to the list if they want.

Hey tmacca, that's a great bit of info! Thanks greatly. Don't s'pose you've got a link (or product model number) to the item. The Eclipse website doesn't seem to provide the best detail on this stuff. :-( Found this which gives some good results too! http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/member-produ...
